How much gas is in the tank? Try pouring a little gas down the carb to help it get going. They can take a little while to prime if the lines are completely empty. Do you have someone to crank it over and keep it running while you are poring (tiny) bits of gas down the carb?

Tank switching valve. Located on the pasengers side, behind the fuel tank I believe.

Also, Try and give us more than 30mins before you say something about no one giving you an answer.

Oh yeah I was going to ask if you have dual tanks because that might be your problem.

Re: HALP ok im a blue name now you can reply 78 big ten no start

I have one tank passenger side, Sorry its just me here, sadly i live in a city where i know no-one and. I feel like no-one knows how to turn a key. I got a bit impatient All the staring fluid fumes. And theres 3 gallons in the tank. Would be more but its a 4 mile walk to the gas station, and they only had a one gallon gas can. was alot of walking today.

Re: HALP ok im a blue name now you can reply 78 big ten no start

If you have all the lines hooked up to the sending unit correctly it should eventually get prime to the carb. If all else fails just run a rubber hose from the fuel pump down into a small gas can.

Nothing at all Makes me have a sad face. Its been a frustrating few days.I've replaced everything except the carb and fuel lines it seems. even that annoying pain to find lil hose of the filler. I worked on it tonight till i couldnt feel my toes anymore (due to the cold).

Re: HALP ok im a blue name now you can reply 78 big ten no start

Did you make sure to connect all the fuel lines on the sending unit and fuel pump correctly, and did you removed the push rod for the fuel pump when you replaced it?

I'm at a total loss honestly. Other than the puchrod not moving at all, I can't think of anything else.

Can you smell fuel at all when trying to start it?

i no you said you changed the fuel filter but have you checked the little filter that is in the fuel inlet on the carb if you unbolt the fuel line from the carb there is a little filter in there that can get pluged up some times. if its the stock carburator un less this is the filter you changed i no a lot of these older trucks have a inline filter thats been added over the years.

Re: HELP ok im a blue name now you can reply 78 big ten no start

I only have sealed tank, and i have the lines right, with one being the threaded and one being just hose and clamp you cant get it wrong. and the gas cap on it is ancient so i doubt that its sealed. but i tell ya if i blow into the tank from the fuel filter it blows back at me so im thinking i might need more gas in it. Considering im not getting the Capri Sun effect.

You maybe getting the Capri Sun effect but I fear you have a line with a hole in it. I had one do this to me and had to replace the line from the tank to the pump and the truck fired right up after the first shot of fuel down the carb.

Hi I am one of the moderators for this section. I am intrigued by your statement that you were solicited to become a member here. I would like to know who told you you HAD to become a member here. Membership on this site is strictly voluntary. The administration here does require a membership if you want to pose whats it worth questions about your truck or you wish to sell items in our classifieds. We demand membership of noone .In addition we have many professional mechanics and even a former GM truck plant guy who designed and built these very trucks here who are not subscribing members here who are liked and respected here who have never been asked to subscribe unless they wanted to post a for sale thread or a whats it worth thread pertaining to their own truck..
I am also going to mention to you that while I can understand the fustration of not being able to make your truck run , particularly while on a deadline of any kind can be fustrating, comments like the above and the one about "not all at once" especially with the title of the thread makes those who do have knowledge to help you feel slighted and then they tend not to reply.
As a member here who appears to have joined within the last month, i hope this constructive criticism helps you with your relations here, and as always should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to PM myself or any of the other staff here.
