flaring ?
on our trucks with the mechanical oil pressure gauge, i was wondering if the line that goes from the engine to the gauge has any type of flare on the ends by the fittings to keep things together? i had to take mine off and one of the ends was siezed and it broke, but i''m ready to go back together with a fitting from a donor truck.

The fittings on the oil lines are tapered and as you tighten them
the taper causes the fitting to tighten up on the oil line. If the fitting is good and the line is straight you should be able to just assemble it and tighten the fitting up. Stick about 1/16" of tubing through the fitting and make sure it does not slip out when you tighten it. I would do an assembly out in the open where you can check it. Jim |
