Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

I have already ripped off the front end....bought 2 new fenders...Short some body parts for this build yet and it might have to wait till I can get to the portland swap meet and get some doors and a hood. But as it sit's right now I have it as far as i can go with out more parts....Well thats not exactly right, starting next week i will peel the rest of the box apart to get to the frame from the top. Not sure at this point if i will take the cab off or just work around it. But i want to paint the chassis and the bottom of the cab as i work towards replacing the front end. I plan on putting all the custom trim back on it once i find some and then it will get painted to match my 1969 Z/28 camaro. With all of the roll cage in and around it ...things get way more difficult to work on. The bar running through the door has got to get hinged, it's almost impossible to get my..*** ### past it and over it. The drive train at this point ..it's not going to get touched other maybe a dyno tune. I am under a bit of pressure right now because I want to have it back together painted and tuned for the Goodguy's in Puyallup WA july 22-24th....Here is to trying

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Looks better in that picture then it is....the front sheet metal is done.....some wiring issues..going to change up the inside. It needs a ton of work right now.....but it does have a world products cast merlin in it. When i fire it up i rattle windows for a block, so i try not to run it to early or too late.

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

The cowl hood came with the project but it's ...hatched....it's a steel hood with a fiberglass cowl put on it. I was at the body shop and i think we came up with a way to take the cowl part off and put it onto another hood with out having it seperate. The plan is start with a good hood ( this is really really bad ) take the line needed for the hole ...make it half a inch smaller. Then line the entire inside hole with some bent half inch tubing thats been sliced the thickness of the hood....then have the tube all the way back to the back hood brace and weld it all in...The hood as is flex's way to much and it just cracked and pulled it all apart. I am with in a half a inch of having to need the cowl for room...but it moves tons of hot air out of the engine compartment. If i am going to drive it on the street i need to move the air i think

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Got to the engine.....pulled the engine and tranny all at once...I can see some work is going to be required for my rear engine mounts....The pull went actually really well....having a friend with a shop and a hoist....is such a bonus.

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Doors are completely toast , I think....don't think they are going to be able to be fixed....need a new hood to put the cowl back on...or maybe a new one piece fiberglass one...big parts list in play....what started as a lets change the color and clean it up has changed into a complete strip down and rebuild

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Nice eye it's a 33....Well it's in my buddies shop....he is doing the set up and body and paint for it....tubbed running a big block chevy...( like all ford bodies should be ) it's set up right from the ground up. It's going to be spotless, I wish my truck had half as nice set up in it as his car does.

Thanks guy's.....

It's been a big week, the floors are cut out, the cab corners are off, new rockers.....the works. I hope to have this all back together and running in time for a meet in july. So I have had all my friends down and making as much progress as we can......Should have the floor completed in the next day or so.
