I am going to look at a 67 rs/ss i know it means rally sport/super sport but what makes it stand apart from a regular camaro? does the rs/ss make it special? what where the options that came with the rs/ss package? it is about a 7.5 out of a 10 what do you think it wuld be worth? should it have a spoiler and any stripes at all?

RS was an apperance option. SS was a performance option. When they ere ordered together the SS emblems will take place of any RS Emblems. The RS will have the hidden headlights (the doors will be electric in 67) and the tail lights should be all red with no center bar (Center bar in 68) And make sure the backup lights are below the bumper on the lower valance. The SS option either came with a 350 (295 hp) or a 396 (325, 350 375 hp) in 67. There should also be disc brakes up front. Some cars might have the dual piston front brakes. Also it should have the SS hood if someone has not replaced it with a cowl hood (not available until 69). The SS hood in 67 will have two black stacks in the middle. They serve as no funtion, just ornimintation. Also, if original it should have a bumble bee stripe around the nose.

This is a correct car. Actually a very rare 67 Pace Car Version.

Be sure to check the vin number and the trim tag (found on the firewall under the hood). Match up the numbers with the charts on the Camaros.org webpage to be sure it is an authentic RS and SS package.

it looks like that but no rear spoiler or front stripe and i believe he said it had power drum brakes on all 4 corners

The 67's didnt come with racing stripes right? Just the stripe around the front clip? Memory dont fail me now, long time since 1967 :P

Only the Z-28 in 67 had the racing stripes. The SS should have the bumble bee stripes like above.

4 wheel drum brakes would say to me that it is a "clone" SS.

Another way to tell that most people don't know, is the fuel line on the SS's is bigger than the regular camaro's. Most people who "fake" SS's don't usually know that detail.

The rear spoilers could be ordered separately, and did not come standard with an SS package, but.... I believe they were included on the RS package? Like 72 Chevyguy say's ..it's been a long time since these packages were commited to memory

There is no designation for the RS/SS package together as there is no official count of the combonation of packages like these.

Too bad it is sold, just wasn't meant to be

Sorry you missed out on it Meathead, but the price suggests it is a clone also. I would think an original would fetch 10-12K pretty quickly!

If my memory serves me correctly, the Z-28 didn't come out until March/April of '67. The rear spoiler was part of the package, as were the stripes on the hood and trunk lid, disc brakes, 302 engine, etc. I also believe that 602 of them were built in '67.

Disc brakes on the '67's should be 4-piston, if correct. There should also be the rallye wheels, 5-slot, with the center caps stating "disc brakes" and aluminum trim rings. Like stated earlier, the RS option is the hideaway headlights, and available on any Camaro engine/tranny combo. The SS option got you the new for '67 Camaro only....350 V-8. You could get a 3-speed, 4-speed or PowerGlide. No Turbohydramatic. The 396 was another mid-year powertrain change, to answer the Mustang/Cougar 390's, the 383's in the Barracuda's and the mid-year intro of the Firebird with its' available 400 (also a new engine for '67). I believe that Nickey was the driving force behind GM putting the big block in the Camaro...something that Nickey was doing for their customers.

I went in the USAF in March of '67. Those were exciting times in the automotive world. Growing up in the 60's, with muscle cars at the dealerships ready for test drives, was a real hoot. Working at an ESSO station, in an affluent neighborhood was an added treat. We had customer's who brought in their Vette's, Goats, etc. I drove a '66 Vette with a big block/4-speed; GTO's with 4-bbl/4-speeds and GTO's with tripower/2-speed automatics; Fairlane GT's with 3-speed in the floor; a Gold metalflake '66 Mustang, that was truly gold metalflake to commorate the one-millionth Mustang; '66 Corvair Corsa (Turbochaged 180HP) convertible: the list goes on. Those of you who are too young to have experienced it are many. Those of us who did experience it are now in our 50's and older. It is this fact that causes me to show my status as "Almost Grown". I still enjoy burning a little rubber when I feel like it. I can do it now and don't necessarily worry about getting stopped. Back in the '60's, getting stopped was regular stuff.

HI guys. I pretty sure that disc brakes were not standard on ss cars until 69'. SS drum brake cars, 67-68, should have finned front drums if not disc. Sounds like a nice car. Tobad you counld not pick it up!
