Cain't believe I found this in MICHIGAN!
I have been doing my plow truck project, planning on going out west to find a nice solid truck just for the body, but come to find out this gem was hiding in my own back yard! I found it about 65 miles from the house, and it had been on craigslist for about 20 days so I figured it was gone but I tried anyways... Luckily it was still there!
1969 C10, 307, manual brakes and steering, 3 speed, coil sprung rearend. I'm fine with the 6 lug and don't plan on converting or doing much with it for now. I've gotta wait to get another truck before I tear it apart, it's way too much fun to drive! The heads will need some work the way it smokes and I'll have to get more pictures later, but it was late when we got home and I gotta work today. Most all the lights and gauges work, the dash is uncut and the aftermarket radio doesn't work, but all in time... Enjoy the pics!

Where is that truck from?- it couldn't be a original Michigan truck- could it? I know what Indiana junk looks like after 40 years of salt!

Re: Cain't believe I found this in MICHIGAN!
There's a sales receipt from PA in 72 from a Buick dealer and the guy I bought it from said he thinks it was from arkansas. The bed has no rot and the underside of the truck is very clean. Under the hood is pretty nice, it's been converted to HEI and the carb was recently rebuilt, otherwise it's stock. The valve covers and intake were painted orange with no masking so the carb, plug wires and linkages are all oranged up but all the metal is so clean...

Re: Cain't believe I found this in MICHIGAN!
Nice truck. But i have to laugh, on just about every truck i have looked at up here or around the country they have a tach strapped to the column. Must have been the first upgrade most of us rednecks did. 2 of mine had/has them.

Re: Cain't believe I found this in MICHIGAN!
I chuckled too, but it sure was fun to look at it going down the road! It seems like it's got a pretty low rearend, I'll have to check. But I was somewhere around 2700-2800 RPMs going 55-60.

Re: Cain't believe I found this in MICHIGAN!
Just one speaker, but it's not working! The radio comes on, but no sound... I'll worry about that later, don't mind listening to the truck sing

Re: Cain't believe I found this in MICHIGAN!
You have some great pics for the family photo album there.Looks like you already have an HEI dist and an internally regulated alt,so all you need is a dual plane manifold,4 barell and dual exhaust and she will smoke the tires.(On a side note, dont listen to the people that will tell you,you need more cui. With a 3 speed and 3.73 gears that little 307 will hold its own on the street.)

Re: Cain't believe I found this in MICHIGAN!
Thanks Bowtie, hoping she appreciates the truck the way my wife and I do! Hopefully some day she'll drive it down the road!
As far as performance, it's got dual flowmasters and the 2 barrel was recently rebuilt, so I'll probably swap in my wife's old race car engine while I tear this one down for a slightly stock rebuild.

Neat truck. Is that the original paint/interior combo? I always liked the black/red combo. Do you have a picture of the SPID?

Re: Cain't believe I found this in MICHIGAN!
Looks to be original, but looks like the black has been redone once too. I can see some overspray on the rad support but I don't see any signs that any repair work has been done. Contemplating buffing the truck out or leaving it the way it is, I'll need to oil the hood hinges a bit, they are quite firm when closing it. I did notice the driver's door upper hinge is pulling away from the door, I'll have to look into repairing that before I do any more damage.

Re: Cain't believe I found this in MICHIGAN!
Nice find!
Yeah, Arkansas sounds a lot "more like it." That's even cleaner than most "original" trucks from here in SC. Have fun cruisin it!!! My original door was also pulling away at the hinge as well. The door metal had actually cracked right above the hinge. It was cut to create a little gap then welded back up. It didn't crack again in the 10 years it was repaired, then I stupidly put repop doors on. I saved the originals though... they only need the bottom corners repaired (rust) but at the time I didn't think I had the skills to fix it, but now I do... maybe...
