Installed some "Brown Bread".PIC'S

I installed a product called "Brown Bread".It's a sound deadening material that when compared to "DynaMat" came out ahead in tests.
Anyhow I covered the whole inside of my Blazer with it.Inside the doors and the whole floor, firewall to tailgate.
It took 2 days total to install. The product is a sticky tar like substance with a foil backing to it.
You apply it to the area you want covered and then heat it up with a hair dryer or heat gun (this softens it) then roll it smooth with a 1" roller that was included.
It cost me $120.00 for 1 roll. One roll covers 70sqft.I used 1.5 rolls because I covered EVERYTHING on the inside of the truck.

Results:
I like it.It makes the doors sound like a new car door when you close it...solid sounding!I have 6x9 speakers in the doors and the "Brown Bread" has improved their sound as well.
I must say it is MUCH quieter in the truck now.
I would recommend this product to anyone who wants some serious sound deadening.
I got it on E-Bay.The guys sells it there or at his site here.$159.00 on his site. It's cheaper on E-Bay though,125.00.Do a search on E-Bay for "brown Bread" and you'll find it here.

Here are a couple pic's
This is how it's shipped to you.About 20lbs shipping wt.

They even include a wooden roller to smooth it out.

It's about 1mil thick,here's a close up of it.

Here it is after smoothing it out in the door.A little bumpy as there was some rust inhibitor already on the door.

The front done.I did end up doing the kick panel area's as well.

The rear floor, bed walls and wheel wells covered with "Brown Bread"

Did you put down rust inhibitor first in the floor before putting that down. I have some rust on the floors not bad, but I don't want to rust under that sound deadner- it looks cool and not as spendy as Line-X, I was going to Line-X my blazer inside, but now you got me thinking...

I took the bed down to metal then painted it with a roll on liner.
Here it was as I was taking the suface rust off.

It looked like this before we painted it.Then of course with the overspray of the primer and paint it did not stay looking black.

if you get the carpet wet will it absorb and hold water? or is it water repellant?

Will the Brown Bread absorb water? No.
It's an oil based product.Water will just bead up and stay there.

If the carpet gets wet I don't see a way of the moisture getting to the metal bed.

That stuff looks to be just like Dynamat without the name on it. How many square feet did you get for that price?

70 sqft per roll.
I did only one layer.
Prob. if I was lining the truck for a serious sound system I'd put 2 layers on,but one was plenty for me.

Bobby, the bed of my Jimmy gets really hot on long drives and almost cancels out the AC. What is the insulating effect from the driveline? Notice it any cooler? Nice job smoothing it out BTW.

Since I've installed the stuff I've driven maybe 100 miles.I was on my way to Blazer-Fest (members of ColoradoK5 will know what that is)when my 700R4 lost the 3/4 clutch pack.
Anyhow in that limited amount of driving I did not notice any insulating effects(hot or cold) of the Brown Bread.

My guess is it would have minimal insulating effects.

Mike C,if your Blazer gets that hot maybe wrap your mufflers with some heat relective wrap like this.

The description here

hereare some other options as well

My electric fuel pump for my TPI is mounted on the pass. frame rail, real close to my muffler.I bought Thermo-Tec's woven blanket and applied that to a shield I made.I then mounted that shield to the frame between the muffler and the electric pump.It works excellant!
I'm woundering why your exhaust is radiating so much heat?!

I went with the Dynamat..This stuff looks just as good. Sounds like it performs just like Dynamat and at a better price. Maybe on the next project??

brown bread

I bought the same stuff off of ebay and am very impressed with it. At first I stuck a small piece of it that got messed up taking it out of the tube to a piece of aluminum in the shop just to see how well it works. Cut the tube carefully and break it open to get the product out. I didn't and tried to slide it out of the tube and damaged the outer layer. When I stuck the first scrap piece on at first I could pull it back off and reposition it and wondered how well it would stick. I left it and ate lunch and destroyed the stuff trying to get it off after about 30 minutes. Evidently the longer it is on the better it sticks because after some time passes it sticks like grim death. I have only done the back of the cab to this point, but am extremely impressed with the product.

Mmmm...

BobbyK,

A bit more of explanation if you would please... to this question.

It looks as though it has shrinkdown qualities similar to "shrink tuning", is that right? Or, is it thin enough that it molds real close to the metal.

A little more clarification if you would plese.

Also, it just looks terrific and sounds great... well sounds quiet, you know what I mean.

No it does NOT shrink.
I formed it to the Blazer by slightly heating it with a heat gun(a blow dryer would work as well).I then rolled it onto the bed and floor of the Blazer with the wood roller they included with the Brown Bread.

That is how it has conformed to the shape of the truck.
It was time consumeing though.

I am happy with the results.Definitly a "must do" project.

I lined the insides of my doors and now when I close them they sound like a new car does when it doors are closed.

Also helped "tighten" the sound of the speakers that are mounted in my doors.

So it's permanent, right?
Never coming off even if you wanted it too?
Nice job, sounds like a good product, or is that "doesn't" sound
