Trying to find some pictures of trucks that have been restored to factory looks. if you have any, please post. I have a 67 GMC and i trying to decide if i want to go back factory, or go all out. Hard choice. Thanks Josh

I'm one for leave it stock unless your up dating Like to disc brakes or AC Now some say cutting the dash is so bad but Buying a 400 radio that dose not play CD's is a Ripp off But here is a 1968 3 door stocker and a 1971 Cheyenne long bed jet black I don't mind adding stuff that makes the truck more safer like rear sway bar rear disc brakes bigger mirrors brighter lights I will ever go one more in my 1968 3 door suburban I'm going with the 1972 front head light wire harness do to I like when i turn on the blinkers the side markers flash it was a only option in 1971--72 but will work in all years 1968--72 and if your going to put in a fuse panel Put the newest one on More options on the Fuse block always go to the newest one cus they worked all the bugs out on the last one

Its like the 700R4 Most Die hart GM truck and hot rodders Know that the 1987--93 700R4 has all the new updates in the case so there more saw after i have 4 of them. one is out 1993 camaro 1 is out of a 1991 Police car comprece and the 2 others are out of the trucks 1987 -90 so that's me when it comes to updates

not restored but an untouched original 1967 gmc. one with my aluminum rims and one with the stock hubcaps.

heres a couple that i have saved the gray is a 67 its been updated with disk brakes and droped with 20s the green one not sure on the year but it appears to be all stock

very small subttle changes it appears stock to most but not the perfectionist or purist...just saying..Of course I "Cut " the dash

Here is my Longhorn. I am doing a bunch of detailing this summer and have since put on the original style stainless hubcaps and better gears and installed the tool box.

I'll have pictures of it all together in another month ( I hope ) but it will be "mostly" stock. Most of the changes from stock are for safety or ease of driving - power front dic brakes, 700R4, 3:42 posi rear, hidden LED tail lights, sliding rear window, new factory look AM-FM radio etc . . . it came from the factory with power steering, air conditioning, tinted glass, auxiliary helper spring, heavy duty springs and shocks, wood bed, 350 engine and my favorite option - the bedside toolbox. The only cosmetic changes are the elimination of the hood bow-tie, C-10 and 350 trim pieces.

The way a base model '67 GMC would look back in '67. Stock should generally resemble the way your truck looked when it left the dealership, weather it is a base model, intermidiate model or top of the line model.Since your '67 appears to be a base model, I am offering a photo of a base model.Sorry can't find a stepside. It has always been difficult to obtain factory photos of base model trucks because these trucks were not promoted by the auto manufactures, vintage ads from the day generally would show fully optioned top of the line units, which spelled out maximum profit for GM and the dealership. Smaller profit margins on base model units.

Do we call it "restored" if it has the wrong wheels? Are we that anal? I know there are purists in every facet of automotive restoration. At this point in the life of these '67-72's, are we ready to brag about our perfectly restored vehicle and dis someone who has done an excellent job and used later GM wheels?

In my dealings with automotive restoration purists, there seems to be a point where some folks are just dead-set against any modification that strays from the straight and narrow that would have been OEM. Modifications that enhance the safety of a vehicle should not be discounted, as long as they don't detract from the appearance as an original vehicle. But, at what point do we draw the line?

I'm a restification kind of guy. My intent is to keep the lines original. But, would I be gigged for removing the side trim and filling in the holes? These trucks were available with and without that trim. Okay, the SPID says it had it, so where is it? Oh, I can get a new SPID sheet made that doesn't show that trim. So, does that mean that anyone wanting to foist their truck off as original, or restored, has to also produce the Protect-O-Plate? Do they need to have the original build sheet? Where do we draw the line as to what someone has to have to claim "original" about their vehicle?

These trucks are not Duesenbergs, nor are they '32 Fords. Yet, they are icons in the automotive world, and they represent the transition of trucks from strictly ultilitarian vehicles to their status as sport trucks...with the availability of creature comforts previously unavailable or just not offered on pickup trucks.

What I don't like in the automotive world is when collectors/hobbyists start segregating themselves based on how they perceive their vehicle....original, restored, restified or customized.

I think that there is enough room for all of us to appreciate what the other guy has.

I agree and what makes this board so great is there are people who like pure stock, pure custom, and everything in between on here.

That being said....I do understand when people are trying to make a thread of only stock vehicles they might not appreciate vehicles that have been modified being posted. There are threads on here for shortbeds, longbeds, bagged trucks, trucks with rally wheels, trucks with 20's, patina trucks, trucks with chickens and many more....let's respect what the intent of the thread is

Chevloray-if your rant is aimed at my post, read the thread title and the first post....
I'm not knocking anything modified; my Blazer is a CST truck that has no moldings or original badging, and I'm not using the factory console that I HAVE. Original trucks didn't come with 20" wheels, cd stereos, high back bucket seats or pearl paint colors.
