I will have some pictures posted tomorrow night of my truck. It is 5 in the front and six in the rear. It will give you an idea though. It has 18's and 20's.

Re: anyone have pic's on a 5 inch drop?
You may want to reconsider. That's just too low for a static drop with stock A-arms...

3" springs up front with a coil cut off and 5" springs with 2" blocks in rear.. No scrubbing problems... Except tailpipes..

Guys running deep "cupped" lower a-arms and rear lowering blocks should take note. The term "Scrub Line" comes to mind. Last edited by lakeroadster; 03-29-2011 at 02:54 PM. |

This is also a problem on '63-'87 Chevy Pickups that have been lowered more than 4" The lower control arms get REALLY close to the ground with any more drop. Two guys here in town have gotten hooked the same way as the subject '55. There are ways to lower the truck more, but they are going to involve more bucks, as the entire suspension will get replaced, but gaining a couple inches ground clearance, and a slightly narrower track for tire clearance.

Re: anyone have pic's on a 5 inch drop?
I can definately vouch for that. Leaving downtown Pittsburgh one day I was cruising real low and all of the sudden heard WHAM and came to a complete stop. Turns out there was a steel plate in the middle of the road that I decided needed moved about 3" or 4" infront of me. It hit the control arm stopping me in my tracks and moving the plate. Luckily I did not damage the frame or crossmember (bent the shlt out of the control arm though) but to resolve the issue I did get a chopped crossmember which will bring the center of the truck (control arms and all) up 1 1/2". This should resolve the issue and give me another 1.5" drop when I am all aired out.

Re: anyone have pic's on a 5 inch drop?
5" front/6" rear drop:
Currently blown apart for paint and a full resto. Boxing the CPP C-notch right now. Early Classic 2" drop spindles, 3" drop springs and a CPP sway bar up front. Early classic 6" drop springs along with an EC adj. panhard bar and shock relo kit, Hellwig sway bar out back. KYB drop shocks all around. Later model PS, PB and front discs. Auburn posi. Poly cab mounts. Handles great.

Also remember you will need a rear notch if you go lower than 5" in the rear..

...the issue... If you want that much of a static drop, I would highly recommend investing in a Porterbuilt front suspension system.

My truck is around 4" or 5" in front and 6" in back. I measured from the center of the hub to the fender lips to compare drops (It takes tires size out of the equation).
