... how about chpoppin the top..??..
...make the beds fold-up against the wall for more room inside....
I've seen a lot of them done,,, make sure it's primo.....

Starting the rewire on Monday. Lined up my Uncle in Yakima to do the upholstery over the winter. He actually cornered me at a family function and asked if he could do it!! He is a gearhead from way back, I can leave it 6 hours from here and trust that he will go above and beyond. Can't wait!!

Just back from the sound shop where it was completely rewired. Some of the cloth covered wiring was pretty scary.

i bet they had a job with the wiring , dont think painless makes wiring for those big busses
im realy curious wat youre uncle will do to the interiour

Just used a standard pickup wiring kit. The only extras I can think of is it has 5 dome lights, two gas tanks, and two windshield wipers. (and I added heated outside mirrors, just cause I could)

When the local Monaco Coach went out of business, my friend bought a bunch of prewired sound system items, so the bus will have surround sound!

I actually bought some original seats. Drivers side are three that will fit 3 children each, with seat belts. The passenger side has two seat belt sets per seat for kids. HOWEVER, I think only one adult on that side per seat and two per seat behind the driver. Total not counting the driver--9 passengers.
As far as the interior, I will be dropping it off before winter in Yakima, picking it up in the spring.

Ditch the seats. Go for that 70's love wagon vibe, giant bean bags for all. I traded a autocross set up 65 bug for a 61 van, I kept my engine. Used it for camping and such for 5 years. It was windowless and had a bumper sticker "Don't laugh your daughter might be in here". Here's a shot of the before, after and engine (built 1200). Also to keep it on topic is a front shot of my Dad's GMC hunting bus with my first elk on the hood. temp was -20 when that was taken near Ukiah Oregon in 1979.

Painted the inside, almost finished with the rewiring. Next; heater, rubber floor, stereo, seats. Less than $1000 away from being finished!! (for now)

wow i thought i was the only one to come from oregon owning a 1961 vw van and an AD. crazy but true!!!! my 61 was a camper special with a bed. imagine having a portable bed in high school.... wish i was cool enough to us it....

Sold it in October to a "Party Bus" company in Wichita, Kansas. They are going to take the original seats out & 'Limo' it out.

I sold it to finance my 52 Burb/Envoy meld that is on the project threads.

think it will be used more as a publicity stunt , like transporting members of the footbalteam and there cheerleaders rather than angela jolie or some poor girl to her prom (i allready can hear the argue from her to her dad as how he could do this and like , her friends will laugh at her foh evah etc) ...... hmmmmm come to think of it it might just be used for this purpose
