d.i.y. upholstery

Well I decided to try my own upholstery as they want to much here to do a bench and is my daily driver with a big dog as co-pilot.I started with a old home machine that my mom had and had it tuned up,nothing fancy.Good needle and thread.I went with vinyl as I could mark it with a pencil easy.I tried to do a tuck-roll theme but didn,t work with the vinyl with 1/4 in. foam and the machine wouldn,t do 1/2 in.Might work with cloth to achieve the look.1 st pic is what I tried but back side was what I wanted but the vinyl wouldn,t pull my tuck the way I wanted. So I just folded it and ran my machine down the edge and looked ok.So next I took the seat apart and measured all my parts and cut out my material leaving extra for insurance. The skirt of the seat was in good shape so I used it,then time to sew, sewed the 5 pieces of the seat first ,then sewed on the skirts. You can have some errors as when you stretch it back on the seat you can move it around to suit your mistakes.Done,I haven,t strethed it on yet but you can see the end results. The seat is from my 67 mopar as a test as it was bad.Hope this helps others as I couldn,t find much on net for help
