Re: 1-ton sway bar with Tubular A-frames?

I ran into a similar problem recently. I bought a CPP sway bar and it has the bolt-style end links. Well I have older DJM 3" drop lower control arms and frankly didn't even know if they had any provisions for a sway bar but figured it wouldn't be difficult to fix. Turns out they did have mounts for the factory bar (the one I believe you're talking about) welded behind the front tube. Essentially they're just flat plates with two holes for the brackets in the same location as your factory arms would have a flat spot with two holes (pictured).

So my input is yes, if you have a welder and some plate, you could easily fabricate mounting points the lower arms but I don't think you will be able to just drill holes in those arms (the ones in the link) because the lower plate is below the tube and your sway bar mounts on top of the arm. Either factory or link style sway bar if your arms have no mounting provisions now you will need to fabricate something. It's my understanding that the link style bars bind less and are superior in that regard.

My problem was that the link-style sway bar has big bushings on the ends of the bolt, and although the mounting tab lined up there was no way to fit the bushing under the plate and next to the tube so I had to fabricate a 1" spacer, basically a piece of 3/16" steel to raise the mounting point. No problems from there.

This is what you need:
