New here and have questions

Hi, I found this site a while back and finally joined up. I bought a '79 Jimmy 2wd about a month ago and will be resto-moding it. I will try to get pics up soon but please be patient as I am not the most computer savy person on earth.

My question is this, do the torque rods on the tailgate serve a purpose other than making the gate easier to open and close? They were a bear to get to come off and I'm not looking foward to having to put them back on. I know I left them off of my '92 burb but that gate isn't nearly as heavy as the Jimmys.

Re: New here and have questions

I had a 79 Jimmy 4wd back in the day. I put a 3" body lift on it and just cut mine. Did not seem to be that bid of a deal and I never had any issues with the tailgate.

Thanks! I may not fool with putting them back on then.
