Clear as in a glass filter or a plastic one, if you used the glass on make sure you use the white plastic clamp to hold the two metal end's together. The fuel filter should have some gas in it should not be full.... Mine are not anyway's..

Mine is full 1/2 the time, and sometimes totally empty. When my pump was new, it was full more often.
Just make sire your glass filter is not able to smack anything. As long as it doens't break from hitting a valve cover or something, you'll be OK.

i had a glass one and i hated it when it was on my truck, and so you know mine was full all of the time, but when it went out i couild not so much as start the truck without it shooting gas all over the engine.

I use a Fram G3 clear plastic filter....it is like $3 and i can always see if it has fuel in it or not. There is proably no way it can burst under the 6-9psi tops that a stock fuel pump puts out. Unless you have a high-pressure racing pump, it will be just fine. BTW, mine usually is totaly full, but at idle it drops down to 3/4 of the way full of fuel.

I agree on the glass ones....glass is just too brittle to be used for anything holding gas near a hot engine. The plastic one i use has "give" to it, so it won't rupture unless it gets smashed really hard by something....i still mount it out of the way though.

If anyone routes the glass filter close enough to the engine and unsecured, they deserve to have a fire.
I been runnign them all my life on just about every heap I've driven, (and yes, most of them were heaps) and never had a single drop come out.
