WIW 72 LWB BB 396 w/AC

I am looking at trading a guy my dually for his 72 truck. I know I won't get a real precise estimate without good pics, but I'm just curious about desireability for this particular combilation.

It is a 72 C10 Long bed with an original 396 big block with 400 turbo tranny, AC truck, looks to be mostly original except for updated truck rally wheels and tires. Green and white two tone, has toolbox on passenger side bed side.

Condition would best be described as "used original", meaning: The seat is ripped (cloth), there is rust appearing in several spots, but no real "holes" (mostly cracks in the paint that have rust coming through them, so there is probably more than meets the eye). Comes with "an extra newer 350/350 turbo".

Here is the ad he has posted on craigslist. Based on the trade offer, I would be giving him more like $3000 for it.

Thoughts?

I'm a bit biased, but I think any BB trucks are special, long or short. The extra 350/350 really doesn't add any value to the equation. Drop that in there and you've lost whatever specialness the truck may have had.

Is it a Cheyenne? That would be a plus. What would you do with it if you got it? If you don't intend to restore it, all that originality really doesn't do you much good.

My truck was very similar in condition to the one you're considering when I started out.

I was going to say $3,000 before I read that's about what you are giving him. The 350/350 combo is a huge red flag in my opinion. Why have an extra motor and tranny around? It's possible he just has an extra motor and tranny, but it's also possible there is somethign wrong with the current motor and/or tranny.

The extra motor/tranny is worthwhile in the sense that I could sell it for more cash. If I remember right, there is nothing wrong with the combo in it, but the new motor is probably a more modern fuel-injected motor that would get better gas mileage than the big block.

I have my eye on another truck but don't have the cash for it. Depending on the timing, i may either take the additional cash on this deal and purchase the other truck if still available, then take a little time to clean this one up and resell it. If the other is gone I may just keep this one.
