Cant wait to see more pictures!

this is essentially what I'd like to do with a first gen blazer I know exactly what you mean LeftCoast

Dino I saw a truck the other day at a repair shop and made me think of you looked like this only a dump bed for grain...

I'm gonna swear it had independent front suspension... if I hadn't been working I'd crawled around and nabbed pics.....

Re: 1966 c50 soon to be a longbed

You know about a month ago a friend sent me an email asking about balljoints for a medium duty truck with an independent front suspension. I told him I had never seen one, but I suppose it is possible. Now I've seen one.....or a picture anyways. I wonder what years and what kind of production numbers there were.

Re: 1966 c50 soon to be a longbed

my 61 gmc 4000 had independent front suspension, it was just a giant version of the little truck.
I am pretty sure all the 60-62 big trucks had indy. (seems like you could still get a straight axle for larger capacity too) In 63 they switched away from the torsion bars because of problems. and narrowed the fender flares to help consumers see that there had been a change.

Nice thing about a C50 is moving the axle forward is not complicated at all.
You are doing something I have wanted to do for a very long time.
COOL BUILD.....
I want to go with a diesel power unit like a 6.5 and a NV4500 maybe ???
I personally don't prefer the slammed looked but to each their own.

Question Re: 1966 c50 soon to be a longbed

great builds I want to try this on my 63 K50 I would like to try a swb stepside
bed I was thinking to strech bed width if I keep it dull wheel. but not sure if I
will keep it dully. I do want to run at least a 44 under it and not sure on the
10 hole rims yet? any ideas on rims to use it has 20s now split rims. any ideas and do you all think this is even posibble? I got my idea from the green
on out of canada that everyone loves on the site. It is alot newer than mine
but still same idea. I could use a flat bed but would like to do a swb just to be different, what do you all think? thanks

well i seen them in a short bed but i like the long bed for the big truck look and feel(if that makes sense) the wheels are going to be a challenge that 10 lug is hard to find in that small patern, you can still buy tires for the wheel you have
