70 cst 10 LWB driver project.

I picked this truck up for 900 bucks. I didn't know about this site, i just fell in love with the body style looking for a driver. It's been about 4 months and i've put a ton of time and work into it. All rust removed, Interior was ripped and replaced (kind of ratted with leather bucket seats from a volvo), lowered 2 inches, new bumpers, and flat black paint. I threw on some baby moons 15x10 on the rear and 15x8 on the front. The only thing good on this truck was the 350/350 set up. It is nothing special as far as power train goes, but it drives nice for what i was looking for. I made a huge amount of work for myself by closing all the trim holes. I like it a whole lot better now.

I wish i had taken more pics of the progress along the way. The interior of the cab was also in great condition. No rust to speak of.. just a lot of old crappy wiring to phase out...

There was also a ton of bondo in this truck. I managed to get all of it out and not replace it with much more than glaze. The biggest pain on the body was the back tail light that got hit. They didn't put any metal back and just bondo'd. Also it had camper mirrors and to phase out the old standard mount side mirrors they welded a huge plate over all 3 holes, didn't grind it down, and put about a half inch of bondo over it. i Wondered why it kept cracking right there and i hit it with the wire brush and found out really fast...

Re: 70 cst 10 LWB driver project.

got the back slammed... finally and i think my headers rub the ground... lol. I used 2 inch springs in the front and jeep in the back, but i think i got at least 4 inches. The truck is level, but i think i'm either going to put coilovers on the back, or put a block on the frame to raise it an inch or so. Other thought is 20's on the back and 18's in the front

It looks good from far, but it is far from good, but a great base to fine tune the body and clean up their mess.

Re: 70 cst 10 LWB driver project.

i'm not going to lower it anymore for now and my pipes never hit or anything. We got the timing done on the motor and tweaked the carb. It was way off and now i'm saving a little gas.... lol

Re: 70 cst 10 LWB driver project.

Here are a couple of shots of the interior... heated, leather, power bucket seats with the headrests chopped to give that old school look. Custom center console for the 6 x 9 speakers and a nice storage area. I used that vinyl paint on the headliner and visors and it was fantastic. They looked new when i got them done and no sign of wear even with dusting them a couple of times. I picked the dash pad up from a buddy and it matched great. We did the metal door panels up with a flat vinyl in black and i like the look. I used some padding to get them flat. I wanted to be a little different, so there is no pattern in mine. Shot the glove box in flat black and the rest of the dash with a nissan silver.
