Re: 292 and some other stuff

The only down side I have had is not that many dress up parts available and parts r getting hardware to find. Other then that I love them. They run real strong hard to break on u u have to be real irresponsible to do damage to a 292. The motor has torque like crazy I'm come on its a inline 6 4.8 liter u gotta love it

Re: 292 and some other stuff

Thanks Tmend, I thought my 6 banger was a 250 and found that it is a 292. I have a single barrel carb with split headers on it and it runs well. I have a 5 speed of unknown origin, trying to find out more about my trans. Don't know what the rear gears are yet. It's a 12 bolt housing. Be well.

Re: 292 and some other stuff

Can you give some details about this engine's condition? Does it require special engine stands? Available?

Sounds like a good deal to me and I admit I do have a soft spot for inline 6's.

If only there was a reasonable way to get it to Phoenix... ideas?

Thanks

Re: 292 and some other stuff

The motor ran real good befor I pulled it to begin me fram off. Didnt smoke and fired right up after sitting all week, i only drove it on weekends. the truck came with that motor no telling if the previous owner did any work. I'm keeping the stands only cuz I'm still running a inline 6. As far as getting it to Arizona u got me there

Not to hijack the thread, but the passenger side engine stand is unique to the 292. I had a hard time finding one for my project. Since you're not going to need it, you might want to add it to the deal (not that this isn't a bargain already).

Here's some good info on the differences in the perches.
