help guys trying to lift 2x4 myself

Im trying to find out how to lift my 4x2 myself im tired of rough country not selling lifts for a 4x2s and leaving us customers out.I dont want to buy a lift from someone so im going to build it myself buying package lifts are expensive anyway.I already have shocks on my stock high truck.I have freinds that can install the lift that i build so m guessing i need coil springs blocks and maybe joints idk.I know 4x2s suck but i just baught this truck months ago and getting it all redone im going to convert it to a 4x4 in the comming months. So for now im doing this help me out guys so i can start pricing around for parts at junk yards locally etc.And please dont give me lecturing cause i know im crazy by doing this but you got to do what you got to do.

Beggers can't be choosers... That is by far your best route.. Plus maybe a 1 inch body lift... Why lift a 2wd? Kinda pointless...

What makes it pointless? Around here most of the lifted 4wd are Mall Crawlers. If you like the look, why not rock it with what you got.

lol i agree why not rock out with what you got i mean most new trucks like fords and chevys are nothing but 4x2s that you see around. Its all about the look i mean whats pointless is guys lifting there trucks thinking there cool and never see dirt or trails. Now thats worthless....but i kind of agree lifting a 2x4 is preety stupid thats why im converting its just better

Thats a simple answer its not going to save much more money. And its not going to do anything for me specially when im switching up everything anyway front and back axles. Also i dont want to bother with trying to go threw hassles to register the truck with different vin numbers and all that its not easy.

Re: help guys trying to lift 2x4 myself

DIY4X (do it yourself 4x4) makes the shackles and hangers that you bolt on to your 2x4 truck to run leaf springs and a solid front axle. You can use their shackles and hangers and some stock Chevy rear springs (52inch I think) Put them on the front of your truck and with the axle installed you have 6+ inches of lift. Then lift the rear with blocks to match. Then later once you install the transfer case, etc your front axle is already there and waiting for you.

Unless you are going with a full custom set up this is going to be you best setup. If you want more it's either a body lift.

A coil is only going to get you so much as it will eventually "bottom out" on the upper coil bucket and cause premature wear on the tie rods and ball joints. A 3-4" spindle lift and a 2" coil lift will be about all you can do without a body lift.
