hi beam switch relocate - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

i went to get my truck inspected and the mech. told me i have to relocate my hi beam switch on floor so i can tap it with my foot . the speakers i put in are in the way. these speakers are the ones that mount in the side kick panels from custom auto sounds... any suggestions or has anybody else had to relocate the hi- beam switch?

I have the kickpanel speakers too. I just moved the swith over and up about 3 inches.

Put it on the turn signal lever! Now *there*'s an idea we'll be stuck with for the next 30-some years!
You should be able to take out the screws and move it to where you want by drilling new holes. Fill the old ones with silicone.
Can't you just remove the speakers for the inspection, or does the radio have to work to pass?

i like having the bright switch on the floor, its part of the coolness of owning an old vehicle, but i am seriously thinking of moving mine to the dash, or somewhere i can get to it w/ my hands. i don't know if i am just stupid or what, but i always accidentally leave the brights on (the indicator light burned out) and then have to turn them off in traffic sitting at a stop, and let my foot off the clutch and stall it. its getting aggravating, i have done it like 5 times. lol

Use neutral when sitting in traffic. Saves your thrust bearing, your throwout bearing, and your leg. And the back of your head when you dim the lights.

I wish today's car/trucks had the switch on the floorboard! It would make it alot easier to dim the lights on the road when your cornering and have both hands on the wheel in the 12/6 oclock position! It's alot easier to just tap my foot to switch it also!
