305 v6 rocker bolts

can anyone tell me if the gmc 305 v6 rocker bolts are pressed in or bolted on? i remember taking the valve covers off a few months ago to adjust the the lifters and the nut a needed to tighten was gone. I think it broke cause i dont remember seeing a thread. i cant tell you how its still functioning, but i put the valve cover back on and drove it home. been driving it in and out of the garage the last few months. im getting tired of listening to the knocking sound and now i have a place to work on it (i was at a friends house the first time). i figure if its a bolt on, i can fix it. if its pressed in imma have a considerably large headache. any info is appreciated

Wc,

IF you are talking about the the "nut" that you tighten down to adjust the pushrods Yes they are screwed in. It can be replaced In order to break one of them someone had to get real stupid, the metal they used was some tough. Please make sure you use a closed end wrench to adjust.

Theproblemwiththe socket and wrench is you tend to put too much torque in the nut,I've alway used a closed end wrench.

Try a NAPA. or Since you have a V-6 I should hav asked you to join the national 60-66 GMC V-6 club. I though you might have been a members. Many of the members have spare parts and extra engine. Here si the link. Join up introduce yourself and MAKE sure you sign both your name and the city where you live (club rule).

This the the yahoo link
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/6066_GMC_Truck/

This is the nat. club site
http://www.6066gmcguy.org/

Post a request for the part on the BB and several members will chime in to tell you where you can get on.
