Re: Worlds Slowest Dropmember Build

I decided to get the cab on the chassis so I can nail down my wheelbase, build my driveline, mount the front clip, start working on getting the porterbuilt hood hinge "pads" welded to the hood, etc etc.

I re-enacted my Egyptian cab moving process (I need to incorporate some of their ancient levers and pulleys next time though..) Elevate cab, roll the chassis over/under and lower the cab..

.. then I cut out my "inner fenders" to clear the tires and bolted them up..

it's amazing how a few hours of hanging sheet-metal can make it look like you actually accomplished something.. plus it's extra motivating to go out into the garage and see a truck there rather than a chassis and some parts...

here are some pics.
one of my daughters got a whizzy new camera that does panorama shots ... so I'll add some of those pics... has kind of a wide angle / fisheye lens effect...

Hopefully tomorrow I can get the hood in place and functioning... we'll see.

Looks good.
Just curious why you didn't paint the firewall before reinstalling the cab?

Good question man.

I decided to do all the paint work at the same time so cowl, underside of hood, bulkhead for the vintage air kit a few interior bits and whatever I fab up for the bed.

I needed the cab on to get my box positioned in the right place and nail my wheelbase so that I can build my driveshaft.

Hopefully only off and back on 1 more time.

Re: Worlds Slowest Dropmember Build

Looks like you have been doing something now.. You should of called me and borrowed the cab lift, but it probably would have taken longer to pick it up than it did to lift the cab back on.

Those fisheye pics just look weird, kind of make me feel nauseous, strange!

So whats next??

Darren

Hey Darren ... Was going to call you but couldn't find your number.
Thanks though.

The fisheye shots were designed to induce a stomach ache.

As for what's next, I think I'm going to weld the porterbuilt hood hinge pads on and get the hood operating and then move on to the raised bed floor, accuair mounts and bed mounts. Etc etc

Thanks looks like I left enough room to put bigger wheels and tires on my ride in the future..

Re: Worlds Slowest Dropmember Build

Spent quite a bit of time in the garage today but didn't get too much done.

I DID get the hood hinges welded up and got the hood on the truck...
The Porterbuilt hinges are pretty much idiot proof (as evidenced by the fact that I was successful today).... super slick... super simple... solid.. smooth..

My son was a big help... actually.. he did most of the work.. thanks bud..

a few shots...

Then I spent 2 hours staring into the bed trying to scheme wth I'm gonna do.... still undecided..

Re: Worlds Slowest Dropmember Build

Semi-Random Question of the day..

Can 2 tone paint w/ High and Low Chrome work with shaved markers, emblems, fuel filler, door handles and 1 pc glass..?

Or is it an abomination?

??

Re: Worlds Slowest Dropmember Build

Nice work on the hood bro. Aren't those hinges sweet?

I think I have to say no to the shaved with high low chrome. Doesn't work for me.

ya.. I agree... It's kind of like it's just missing something(s).. wasn't sure if it was just me or not..

I'm trying to figure out options IF I were to someday lose the flames. I can't see myself unshaving the markers/handles etc... so... thought I'd photoshop this to see what it would look like..
