Relocating Fuel Tank to Underbed - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Howdy all. I need some recommendations on where to get the best kit to convert my 69 SWB to an underbed gas tank (I'm removing the one behind the seat. I'm tired of smelling Miss Ethyl).

LMC Truck stocks a kit and has everything but the filler neck for about $400 shipped.

Any other decent suppliers?

Check this website out this is what I plan to use. Its about 200 before shipping. You can go to a juck yard cheaper but I don't want to deal with a headache so here you go hope it helps..

Whenever possible I would advise to purchase truck parts from the venders who support this message board. I myself purchased an under bed kit from GMC Paul. Don't recall the exact price but I do recall he was VERY competitive and his after the sale customer service is FIRST RATE. I needed a small part to complete my installation and he over nighted the piece in time for me to make a car show the next day. Will post a pic or two of my installation, highly recommed moving the tank. One of the best mods that can be done in my opinion.

What is GMC Pauls website. I plan on installing a rear tank as well I cut out a fuel side access door for my 71 I took it out of a 2000 Chev silverado I should be able to get the inlet hose routed but I have trailing arms not springs..

Click back to the 67-72 message board and scroll to the top of the page. There is a link there to GMC Paul's website. Real easy to navigate and understand. Again, top notch people to deal with. Do a "search" using GMC Paul as search words and should give some insight to dealing with them. Never met the man but have talked to him on the phone and he builds trucks, not just sells parts from a catalog as some do. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks Ironhorse. I just checked GMC Paul's website out and found just what I needed. It'll be a month or so before I buy, but will definitely consider him. Nice to hear the customer service part of the sale is great. That means a lot.

Most of the vendors on this board have better pricing and service than others.LMC does make a nice catalog that works well for an assembly manual.

I have a 21 gallon poly tank kit (new w/sending unit and straps) that I am thinking about selling. Paid $225 for it, willsell it for that and ship for free if interested. I decided to go with a SS or aluminum FCG tank I think.... PM me if interested.

another option is a fuel cell from summit or jegs, several members have them in their trucks and they dont hang down below the truck very far. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

requires slight trimming on the angled crossmember where the spare tire was.

yeah i have that fuel cell under my truck, i lost all my pics on my computer but it was easy to put in, has the right sending unit for these trucks also. heres another members truck with the same cell. http://www.jayspot.com/pages/67gmc-chassis.html

performanc online has a pretty sweet tank that doesn't hang tofar beneath the rails check it out.

Its not the cheapest but you have your choice of side fill or bed fill. I like it better than the burb tank because it doesn't hang 5 inches under the frame
