Eaton HO-52 Help

I was wonderin where I could get 4.11s for this rear end cuz my 4.57s are horrible on gas and im red lining at about 55 mph.....I was also wondering if I could take the gears out of my dads old truck but his truck is a C10 and mines a C20....but I looked under his truck and it had a Eaton differential in there....would it work?

Re: Eaton HO-52 Help

Your best bet is pull a differential from a truck with 4.10s. The whole third member swaps w/o any gear set-up. You can find the rears pretty easy and very cheap once you start looking. That rear was used for over 30 years up till '72. The C/10 will have an 12-bolt which is different. There were no 5 or 6 lug HO52s. Pre-62 1/2t GMs used a similar but lighter version.

Re: Eaton HO-52 Help

What year is the C10? If it's a '61 or earlier rear it will be a smaller version of the HO52. Is it 6-lug?

Re: Eaton HO-52 Help

I believe they are actually a 4.10 not 4.11 (just to be technically correct)

I've been searching for a 4.10 posi chunk for my 71 C20 forever. Can't find anything around here! My wrecker also has the 4.10 non posi. I'm always blessed with non posi's for some reason.

One of my biggest gripes of old cars is WHY didn't they ALL come with posi rears? Why was there a non posi "peg leg" crap anyway?
