not long really. I stripped the whole truck in about a week, working after work for 4 hours a day. It's really easy once you take the front end off.

so far I'm into mine at least a grand CAD and don't have the exhaust done yet.

4.8/4l60e donor truck - $480
dirty dingo mounts - $200
p/s line/fluid - $30
rubber fuel line - $20
tuner(speed/rpm) - $250
tranny servicing - $130
harness walk through - $130
electrical parts - $50-100
antifreeze - $50
Temp sensor - $40
fuelpump/filter - $150
oil pressure adaptor -$40

so thats 1500 actually.. and I'm not done and trucks not even running good yet... another couple hundred for exhaust probably.. if this trucks inspection worthy for 2 grand id be suprised lol
