Copperhead "Cop-out"!
I just watched today's show. All the hype about ECE's great repro parts and they then used NOS fenders and nice ORIGINAL GM doors. They weren't going to use that import repro stuff in those two areas of this nice truck. Of course we would like to see someone take on those two tough parts and see what it really takes to make them fit right. Stacey did say it takes extra work to make repro parts work---so they didn't use them. Half of the doors I sell come back. The guys just don't know how to make them fit---or it is just too much work. They go back to originals and fix them.
It looked like he put the 69-72 thick rad support bushings on with the 67 CS & fenders. Shouldn't that sit too high in front? 67 used a thin rubber spacer. |

did you notice when he was making like he was putting on the drivers door that there was no VIN tag?

I will probably never buy an aftermarket door or fender as long as I can find original ones, even if they need some rust repair I will stick to good old original ones.

maybe he'll put masking tape all around to prevent it from getting scratched !!!my personal opinion is that doofuss staceys expertise only goes as far as the tele-strator !! he doesn't actually build or assemble anything he's just using old trucks as props for his info-mercials !!!

As I see it he is building a truck the way alot of us would using the parts he knows that will work best. Sounds kind of honest to me. The guy has a show to run and sponsors to keep happy as well. I WISH I got to run a TV show about trucks for a living. Give the guy a break hey. As for his little character idiosyncrasies give the guy a break there too. None of you guys ever do anything that is annoying to any body else? I'm pretty sure I annoy the he11 out of some people lots of times.
I sincerely hope that automotive journalists Like Stacey do lurk around here as it is to our benefit. Lets not Pi$$ em of by being petty. Remember when Jim Aust used to post on the board? He was an asset.

I must say that I agree, but I would like to see all the behind the sceens stuff they do to the truck. I actually like the show and am not bothered by his acting, its just a show and I leave it at that. I like to see the trucks, keeps me inspired. -keep on truckin'- JMO

Ya, I really like that show too and he doesn't bother me one bit. He shows good stuff!
I still say they "copped out" by avoiding the two toughest repro parts. Doors and fenders are being sold in large numbers, let's see how they can be made to work. Questions on these parts come up on this board every week! A lot of guys want to know. We could all use original parts on our trucks, but there are not enough left for everyone, so show us the repros and how to make them work. That is what the show is about...the latest parts available in the industry and how they work. |

repros are a pain in the but to work with, but it is easier to make one work than to replace all the rusted areas on an orgional door. I am proud to say one of my doors is origional

"Cop-out" or not it's nice to see any kind of project on one of these shows where a Chevy truck is being done. I'm greatful. I was thinking about using ECE for my front/rear suspension parts, and I'm glad I did. Those guys are great.
The last thing I'm going to do is complain about the content of the show when there's exactly ZERO other shows doing a 67-72 truck.

Mounting Cowl Hood
I was wanting to see how easy Stacy put on a cowl hood, I presume he would be putting one on the Copperhead. I have never got mine to work. I think they look real sharp, but I've had some fit-up issues wilth it.

Who the hell care if they r repro or oem. Not everything anyone does can satisfy everyone. Its a great lookin truck. Not everyone wants to spend 20 hours fixin a part that could be bought for less than the amount of labour.
My 68 has repro fenders and a goodmark cowl hood.; The old fenders were to far gone, so i will have to work to make them fit big deal. Isnt building a truck about the labour and hard work. The harder things come the more u appreciate them when they r done ANy ways it could be worse the truck could be rotting away in a boneyard. my 2 cents worth

Yeah I also noticed Mr. PICKUUP, that Stacy used the thick rad support cushions that are usually for 69-72 trucks. However LMC sells those for jall the 67-72 in their catalog. Other vendors sell the thin ones for 67-68, can this cause fit-up problems I have been having? How does LMC justify selling the thick ones for all models or does it make any difference. There is at least 1/4" difference between the thickness of the thick versus the thin cushions, I have both.

I think the "TRUCKS" show is just great for all of us that have $30,000 to spend on a restore. For the rest of us peons it's a cruel joke!

I would love to see one of these shows made as it happens.
Not with all the dirty work done behind the scene. Pulling an engine with a chain fall hung over a Oak limb. No nice spotless tile under the tree- Just real mud. Covered with grease with red spots from skint knuckles. Real language spoken as the nose itches as soon as the hands are covered with grease. Just about the time the engine is hanging three feet above the vehicle, the limb breaks and the whole affair comes crashing down. Changing out an automatic transmisson in the K-Mart parking lot. Squirming around to loosen things under the car in a small lake of spilled transmission fluid. Red spots from skint knuckles. The right front wheel resting on the spare tire and the bumper jack holding up the rear. Colorfull language as the transmission lands on the chest after the last bolt is out. Lets have some realism. I really liked the great door support/clamp Tracy used--like we're going out and buy one for $2-300 to hang/adjust the two doors we do every 10 years!!!

I like the show. It gets me motivated to go out and work on mine. I think if you don't like the show, then don't watch it. Just my opinion though.
