Long bed to short bed info help needed!
I just picked up a 64 short bed 1/2 ton with no bed. I have a trailer made out a long bed. I'm going to cut the bed down so I can put it on my 64, so I need a good tech article! Any help is greatly appreciated

If memory serves, need to take 20 inches out... 12 in front of the wheel well and 8 behind.

Re: Long bed to short bed info help needed!
If it were me and I was building my own short wheel base chasis for a fleetside , I would change the dimensions slightly so the rear axle would be more centered on the wheel well opening. The rear axle on a 66 gmc is forward in the wheel well it should be 2-3 inches farther back in the wheel well opening ....Kieth

Re: Long bed to short bed info help needed!
i think what kieths talking about is when you make your bedsides center the rear wheelwells and wheel arch over the wheels! so that the wheels are centered and look better!!
