Re: What do you gus think?

I would think it would be I believe those 67-72 crew cab body styles are very rare I can only recall seeing a few over the years and only one that has been customised.

Re: 72 Crew cab on trade?

Need some more details on both. Obviously the crew is rare (custom made) and desireable (especially now it seems) but the blazer looks very nice where the crew looks like a halfway done project at this point. But the looks could be deceiving. What engine/tranny in the crew, how is the body on it? How good was the conversion, interior?

And more than anything else....if it is a good deal for you....it's a good deal

Re: 72 Crew cab on trade?

Okay, read up on your SWEET blazer. That thing is nice!!! What did you have it listed for when you tried to sell it? I'd guess it would fetch between 10-15K depending on the buyer and how long you're willing to wait so if the crew is worth that with what it has done to it............

Re: 72 Crew cab on trade?

I have always wanted a crew cab 67-72, so if the cab looked pretty good, I would be doing it ASAP. But that's just me. You have to keep in mind how many hours it took to get that cab to get it to a crew cab, and the fact that that truck will always go up in value the more you do to it. Your blazer is super nice too, so I could see where it could be a tuff call for you to make.

Re: 72 Crew cab on trade?

This is what he says(I have a custom 1972 swb bagged truck it has no tags, but will drive, the back brakes need finished, bench seats need to be recovered. It has 20" hot wheels brand wheels on it. Air ride on all four) He said he built the truck based off of the Young frankenstein. All glass is in it but back glass, the drive train is a 350/350. It is stock floor body dropped) And he is asking 15,000 for it and i am asking 13,500 for the blazer.

Re: Blazer trade

It looks like it has potential, but also needs a ton of work....that Blazer on the other hand looks like I would have it as a daily driver or for shows.

Re: 72 Crew cab on trade?

I would recommend asking the guy for some "build pics" or some documentation of the work that was done and HOW it was done. You never know what's underneath the bodywork. Just from the pics alone I would say $10K is too much to ask.

Have you had a chance to look at it in person, during the day, and spend a good hour picking it over?

Re: 72 Crew cab on trade?

I have not had a chance to look at it as it is 6hrs away I will see if I can get some more pics for you guys. The only problem i'm having is trading something done for a project. And I also don't like that he switched it over to six lug

I would much rather have that Blazer. I'm sure the crew will be cool some day, but how much $ to get it there.

Re: 72 Crew cab on trade?

The crew does run and drive. Has a 350/350 in it. He converted it to six lug for newer style wheels. Things it needs to be daily driven are a backglass seats redone and a shifter according to him. Most of the metal work is done but the window frames on the rear door. Although he said he would finish those for me

Re: 72 Crew cab on trade?

He would need to throw cash in. I don't think his truck is worth half what your Blazer is. Unfortunately as an unfinished project he may only get 25% of what he put into it, if even that.
The 6 lug is easy enough to get around, so that shouldn't be a deciding factor for you. There are so many bigger things that need to be done to the crew cab that the 5 lug swap is just a bump in the road.
The metal work on the rear window frames is no walk in the park either.
Can you find a board member that is close to the truck that can look at it and take pictures for you? That way you could at least determine if you should drive the 6 hours to check it out yourself.

Man there is a ton of work in that thing, and probly not another one in your town.
If it was me I would probly trade if he went 6k and the crew but I like working on stuff.

Not even close. Once finished the Crew will have a higher value, but right now its less than 8k from what I see.
