Re: 1984 GMC Suburban steering play

First thing I'd check would be the drag link ends. The design puts a lot of push-pull on them going front to rear. The next thing would be the tie rod ends on the front end. After that, there is an adjustment on the steering box end play/pre-load. There is an hex head screw with a locking nut. That will help take out a good amount of end play. Check the rag joint coupler from the steering shaft to the box. They can wear out too.
