Re: US Tom

Thanks John,

Getting it this far has not been easy, but it only motivates Kyle more it seems. Turns out I've got 6 driver side window regulators. Any one want to trade for passenger side?

The driver's side front brake line refused to seat properly. Kyle had to machine some material off the hose fitting so it would fit against the caliper flush.

Turns out the extra windshield gasket I had was for a trim equipped vehicle. Not Tom's style, so I got to make a trip to pick one of those up. At least I was out picking up the drive shaft which got lengthened for the new drive train.

And the UPS and Fedex trucks showed up (just in time delivery, I think we're ISO9000 compliant at t his point). Had to get a Lokar flexible transmission dipstick because the one that can with the trans looks like crap and didn't clear the valve covers so had to get a new one of those. Also got a Lokar adjustable shifter for the transmission, because the old 350 trans mount was all wrong.

There were tons of things that I hadn't rounded up because Kyle and I just started tossing the idea around last week of taking Tom to Good Guys. We would up taking parts off three different trucks to get this done, so what Kyle has accomplished is incredible because he had to borrow things like a dash wiring harness, brake booster, and bumper to get this together.

Today the glass man came and installed the windshield while Kyle got the brakes to cooperate (thanks Sara for helping out!) Tomorrow he'll get the exhaust installed after he works through the night to install the drive shaft, trans linkage, paints the hood and build the tailgate.

I've told him that even if we don't make it to GG's that won't diminish the Herculean amount of work he's done. What he's done is incredible.

Will he make it? Stay tuned....

Keith, load your truck up and drop it off at Kyles. We'll go have a couple beers then load up your finished truck and send you on your way.

Believe me Steve if I could do this I definitely would. Atleast the paint and body would like great. Plus I have seen his work and know I could trust him. Maybe I'll contact him to see what his prices are and maybe send him my truck next winter

Next Winter? Send me your wheels to use in the mean time, K?

Tom rolled out into the daylight this morning, under his own power. Big relief because I was nervous about the used transmission.

Re: US Tom

Here's a few pix of the progress....

Ididit steering column - Kyle painted.

Other fender is back on. Funny thing about this - When I left his shop the fender was on. When I pulled into my office about 40 minutes later, he sent me a pic the pic with the grill, headlights and front bumper installed. If I hadn't been there myself, I never would have believed it.

Got the wiring pretty much finished with the exception of the tail-light harness. Kyle just had to get the stance right - the 4x4 look was driving him nuts.

Glass and seats are in.

Will trailer it since the tranny is a complete unknown and red isn't a real popular color south of the Red River.

Re: US Tom

I am running the same wheel on my burb and the shop installed the tilt and wheel but did not hook up the horn because a I am missing something necessary to hook it up. Do you know what kit if any you had to use for the horn? Do you have any pics with the horn button off? Truck looks great!

That's an idea, but my OSU graduate daughter might take exception. My OU grad son would love it though!

I bought the wheel as a kit from Classic Chevrolet in OKC. Had everything needed for the horn to work. I'll get you a pic.
