TH350 Transmission will not engage.

When I was re-wiring my 1980 K10. I dropped the steering column and once I reinstalled it the vehicle is effectively in neutral. I have good vacuum. Replaced the modulator. Checked the fluid. Checked the linkage. Everything checks out. Speedo doesn't work either now. Aside from disconnecting the shift linkage I did not (knowingly) remove anything else mechanical during the wiring. Engine idles great. Everything mechanical worked great before the rewire. Is there another point for a vacuum leak to the tranny that I've missed? Any help would be appreciated.

1980 K10; 350/TH350; Cruise Control; AC/Heat; 4WD; Column Shift

dont take this as an insult, but is the parking brake set?

No. Parking brake was released, but that brings up a symptom that I didn't think about. The truck will roll if the brake is not applied even though it is shifted into park. The truck acts if it is always in neutral.

Re: TH350 Transmission will not engage.

youre not in park you need to block up the wheels and crawl under the truck and manually put the trucj in park. Now get an assistant to hold the settring column shifter in park and then go hook it all up underneath. then throw it in low and make sure that youre able to go up through all the gears 1-2-D-N-P and after all that is done you can adjust the indicator on the column by moving the spring loaded wire to where its properly centered on the letters

I can check again, but my detents are good. Can't shift into low from drive or reverse from neutral without pulling the gear lever. Remember, No Park, Reverse or Drive. I swear it seems like someone stole my driveshaft in the middle of the night!

Got it thanks. Somehow, the transfer case kept putting the transmission into neutral? Anyways, it runs like a champ now!
