COE & LCF Pics
I don't recall seeing a thread for the "big boys". I think most here have a place in their heart for them,in one form or another. How about any of the larger trucks as well? So,here are some from my collection, starting with Advance Design COEs:

Re: COE & LCF Pics
Not familiar with the term, "LCF"?
I don't know if they ever made one but I'd love to see one w/ the '55-'56 grille or the '57 grill. If anyone has a photo showing that, PLEASE post it. When I had my '46 I found this '40 COE on Custom Classic Trucks. If anyone knows what that color is I REALLY, REALLY want to know. Green with some brownish in it, looks so era-correct on this truck! I'm flatly in LOVE with this truck and especially the color. Here's a link to the article on it: http://www.customclassictrucks.com/f...uck/index.html |

Re: COE & LCF Pics
Dan, thats real nice. If I had to guess at that color my guess would be some sort of olive. It looks like a darker olive drab (army) with gloss clear over it. What ever it is I am also in lve.
On second look I see the star on the lower right fender It kind of reminds me of a Russian army style. So definately some type of military green. Your truck will look very nice that color. Last edited by FFredo; 09-06-2011 at 02:00 PM. |

Re: COE & LCF Pics
It says in the article from CCT that it's an "olive-drab green custom mix".

Re: COE & LCF Pics
Dan,LCF stands for Low Cab Forward which is what GM started producing starting with the Task Force trucks. The Advance designs were the last of the Medium duty COEs. The LCFs still have stub noses but the cab isn't over the engine anymore. Now that you mention it,I' not sure I've seen one with the first style grille.
I remember you asking about that olive color on that COE before. I guess it's custom and duplicating it exactly will be a bit of a science.

Re: COE & LCF Pics
Fredo and SpecialK,
Yeah, I guess it is a custom mix color. If I took a decent resolution copy of that photo to a high end automotive paint house they'd probably get me close. I was REALLY interested in that color for my '46 but on my '55 I'm not sure it would be what I'm looking for. I still love it though. Special K, The photos you posted look to me like a taleted fabricator - a LOT of you guys here - could massage a '55/'56 or a '57 grill into. I'd love to see it. The one with the long stepside bed on it, lowered with high polished Alcoas on it would look fantastic in my opinion. Ok, enough with hijacking this thread to my taste. Let's see more COE's and LCF's! |

Re: COE & LCF Pics
Here's one of my favourite COe's in the first picture. The link can be used to go year by year to see a variety of pictures of different truck models. Just click on any year and you can choose pictures of various truck or car models (including COE's, Panels, Suburbans, Fire Trucks, School Busses, etc.).

Re: COE & LCF Pics
Dan,who's hijackin'? Noting wrong with commenting on what we see here. That what it about mon.
Those are nicely done. That first one is crazy cool. Who'da thought someone would build a drag truck out of a bull nose COE? Here are some car carriers. I'd like to see all larger trucks shown here as well.

Man, that International is something you don't EVER see. And the root beer brown looks great on it in my opinion too.
The red oxide one looks like it ate a smaller one and its still stuck in it's mouth! |
