Smile '52 Chevy bed questions

I am dismantling a 52' Chevy bed to restore and build a restored utility trailer. I have a question about the front bed panel. The top bolt seems to be a long rod threaded at one end and seems to be spring loaded. How do I remove this ? Just keep unscrewing the nut? Any advise is welcome. I have everything else under control (well at this moment in time).
Thanks,
Brian

Hang a wrench on one end and keep turning the other. Good luck puting it back together. Getting it to line up can cause serious swear words.
