I just bought a 1972 SWB Super factory big block questions with pictures

first time owner of a 67-72 C10. This one is a 1972 without the original motor or color, missing SPID, has title and vin plate, no build sheet... seller claims it's a real Super Cheyenne factory big block fleetside short bed.

the truck is solid, paint is good, interior need work, included brand new Vintage Air but I need to install it, ECE lowered and front spindles and springs new shocks, power disc brakes and power steering, cargo/interrior light, white headliner and sunvisors, white houndstooth bench seat, woodgrain door panels and emblem on glovebox and fenders

Engine is from a 1975 Chevelle 454 (I checked the numbers) with a TH350 (unconfirmed) 12 bolt rearend

How can I tell if it's a true Super Cheyenne?
How can I tell if its a factory big block?
Whats it worth?

If you care that it is a true "real Super Cheyenne factory big block fleetside short bed",
I can't help ... but it does look like you have yourself a very nice truck.

If you have concerns as to if you got the "real deal" and your moneys worth,
I'll let others step in with comments (within reason).

The fact that the truck has been modified already...wheels, engine, steering wheel, etc.
And with plans of suspension mods, it's heritage should be a mute point, in my book.
It is a hybrid and if you like it the way you got it, then that should be fine.

It would be my dream truck regardless of heritage.

With what info you have it will be very difficult to tell if it was a cheyenne super originally. Post a pick of the vin plate, and there are a few people on here that can tell if it was a big block or not. But that will only tell you if the cab was a big block. You will have to match the vin # with the # on the frame to make sure the cab/vin plate is original to the frame. Either way, great looking truck!!!!!!!!

Nice looking truck.
The Cheyenne Super,... real or clone is also my favorite truck.
Looks like it use to be Ochre color.
(Engine pic,... under the heater box)

Got any more pics?

Re: I just bought a 1972 SWB Super factory big block questions with pictures

here are some more pictures, also where can I check the frame VIN# location?

I have the bed rails but I took them off, I'm going to sell them. I plan on keeping the truck and driving it... first I am going to install the vintage air unit that came with the truck.

As you can see in this picture I started to buff areas of the top fender and door... the paint will buff out very nice!

It came with the correct woodgrain door panels, no tilt

First off, it looks like a nice truck. As far as being a super, i would doubt it myself. Too many little things not correct. It has some good options and if you are just driving it yourself, does it matter if it is a correct super? I wouldn't be surprised if there are more supers on the road now than there were back in the day.

Nice truck! As mentioned, it'll be hard to prove it was a super without documentation as you can add all of that stuff. Does it have a headliner? Looks to have all the other cheyenne options other than the stainless piece on the tailgate handle but that easily could have been removed when it was painted...

As far as originally a factory big block...The GVW's on the vin plate do support it being a factory big block from what I've been told to look for. A couple questions...is there a heat shield on the passenger side firewall below the heater box what do the exhaust hangers look like? And have you checked the frame for modification (shortened) or checked to see if it's got a vin stamp to match the vin?
