New guy 1970 C10 project!

I'm new to the site and wanted to share my new project truck! I own a scrap yard and this came in a few months ago. I put it aside and started collecting parts. Now, I have everything I need to start the build. It's a 1970 C10 2wd fleetside short bed.

The Plan:

Built 355 sbc 4 bolt main 9.5:1, World heads, Lunati cam, edelbrock intake and carb. GM 200r4 trans, with 2000prm lock up converter.

CPP Grand Slam kit, front and rear sway bars, and 5 lug conversion. Maybe a set of 15x8 Basset Nascar wheels, or 5x5 Blazer wheels with hub caps?

I have all the sheet metal for the nose, and a nice bench seat. The frame and cab are in great shape. Going to pull the nose off, paint the frame, and undercoat the body and bed. Put my motor and trans combo in. Do the suspension and brakes. Put a posi in when I do the 5 lug conversion.

Here are some pics of the truck as I got it!!!

Re: New guy 1970 C10 project!

UPDATE!!! Got the nose off last nite so I could really see the frame damage. My buddy who is helping me with the project says he can straighten it no problem. The cab, rest of the frame and bed are all in really great shape for a northeast salt truck. Must have been stored inside. All the cab mounts are good bushing were done recently. The whole nose of the truck is shot though. I was hoping to save the inner fender wells but they are pretty rotted.

Re: New guy 1970 C10 project!

I wish I got more of them!! We don't do alot of cars. This farmer brought the truck in. It was his friends truck that went out one nite and tied one on. He smacked the truck into a telephone poll and left it at the farm. The polaroids from the nudie bar were still in the truck!!!

I hope it goes smoothly. Considering the condition, I should have it up and running in no time!

Got the motor and trans out last nite. I think the bend in the frame is worse than I thought!

Before I read the entire post I was going to say....you must be looking at a different frame because the frame I see is NOT in great shape. It belongs right where is it....in a scrap yard!
If you are going to spend a good bit of money on this rig I would find a different frame. Sounds like a great build to come though!!!
