HELP !!! Trim Removal - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Since search is disabled, i'll have to ask this question again. Whats the best way to remove stainless trim on the front and rear windows? And also the cab divider trim under the rear glass? As for as the windows go, should i just cut the gasket to remove the trim ? I came across a '69 in a salvage yard with flawless trim. I offered the owner $ 40 for the front,rear and divider trim and he jumped on it. Was this a good deal??? Now, if i can only get it off without bending it! I have to go back in the morning to remove it. ( No, i didnt pay him yet ) Yard owner said he had a trim removal if i needed. How would you guys get it off ???

Use a good, sharp utility knife and cut the lip off of the old rubbers, pop out the glass and then take them off. Since the stainless trim wraps around the periphery of the glass it is best to take the glass out of the rubber to insure you wont bend the trim. 40 bones is a decent price for all but not "astonishing". I would get it for that price myself if there was nothing else available. The paint divider trim "pops" off of the cab corners and then just slide them across the back outward towards you. These are real easy too.

So the glass must be removed before i can get the trim off ? How about the small divider trim running beneath the rear window ?

Chris..it is easiest and best if you pop the glass out of the truck then yo can separate the trim at the corner joints and slide them out of the moulding. It takes all of about five minutes. If the glass is no good anyway then just use a BFH (big f***ing hammer) to make it even easier
