I have the EZ harnes now, and if I would have had my truck blown apart, this would have been fine. but it is very time consuming to reroute wires and bundle these and shorten these and put connectors on these,etc,etc.

If I was going to do it again, I would go with AAW.

I used American Auto wire in mine. I used the classic update harness so all the late model accessories like one wire alternator, air conditioning and electronic ignition. Took a little while to get it all completed and run like I wanted it but sure came out nice. The instructions and wiring diagrams that came with it were very detailed and easy to follow.

I've used ezwire and it's not easy,I have a lot of wiring experience working with MC's. They are easier than cars,I think they are okay but I would check out Rebel Wire you'll get better help and just as inexpensive as EZ

I have used ez wire kits in three cars and am purchasing another one for my truck this week. I haven't had any issues with them at all, wiring always takes me a long time but I am a little anal retentive about it staying clean and not looking like a birds nest. One of the best things I like about it is how it comes in all black with each wire labeled every 5", nice to not have a rainbow all over your vehicle. They are the most economical good quality kit that I have seen, rebel is close in price but still about $45 more for the same 21 circuit kit, I have never used rebel wire either so I can't comment on how it installs. I will likely be going with Rebel when I get there unless I end up carrying AAW.

i used an ez kit. this was my first time wiring anything and had no problem with it. price wasnt bad either. cant say for the other kits..

I have installed one Painless harness in a car and a Rebel Wire in my 63. Price and customer support with Rebel are top notch.

I just finished installing THIS Universal Harness by American Autowire in my 66.

It is a high-quality kit, and all of the color codes on the wiring match our trucks - not to mention, all the wires have the circuit I.D. printed on them the entire length. Uses a bit different turn signal / column connector - but it includes the matching connector and pins to convert yours.

The only thing I found it doesn't have is pre-run wiring if you have an ammeter or back-up lights, though there are plenty of extra circuits you'll find that will work. An extra bonus is that you get a circuit to run hazard flashers if you don't have the spendy switch.

I would buy another one of their products in a heartbeat. Great instructions, quality materials and for under $300 shipped, I couldn't build my own for less.

I used the Rebel wire 9+3 kit. My truck was gutted of wiring and this one worked out just fine for my use.

It would be OKAY if you don't need a lot of circuits-I would try to get atleast 12 circuits-just my opinion

I think that is mostly for a street rod. I wouldnt try to skimp out on the harness, do it right, do it once and be done.

I wouldn't go less than 12 circuits myself. You'd be surprised how many fun things you might want to add later.

If you go through painless, just remember that they eliminate the horn relay, and the wire from the coil to the R terminal. But Painless would be spending $450 on a $150 universal kit.

So what did you end up with mr. lovesick? am in the market for a complete set myself and the only thing that keeps me from bying the EZ set is that there are no connectors..
I'm no stranger to a spanner or a wrench..but with wiring the hairs in the back of my neck stand up

I use alot of EZ Wire harness but if AAW makes a harness for you application I would use that. The AAW stuff is very nice and comes with alot extra stuff that universal harness just don't have.

I installed the classic upgrade harness from American Auto Wire. Very nice kit and it comes complete with ignition, headlight, highbeam switches. I mean complete and easy to read instructions. The only set back is you need to buy the special 1 and 2 barrel crimping tool for the OEM GM connectors. I didnt buy the double crimper tool (to expensive). Went over all my electrical connectors that I crimp with solder for added protection.

I used EZ WIRING in my 63 stepside. It was the best price at the time (1999/2000), about $200. It was really easy, but it did take me about a month's worth of late nights and weekends to get it all in nicely and up to my own standards! I'm just really particular on how I like things and I had to make it nice, clean and tight. EVERYTHING in the electrical system brand new! And hey, it's now 2012 and no problems there once or ever! Now my next project that I'm eyeballing is a 60' shortbed fleetside around my neighborhood and I plan on using the same brand, EZ WIRING. Why mess with what works, right?!

I use AAW or Painless-hard to beat the quality. Altho I will admit if your are "restoring" a truck to original style the classic Update series from AAW is a damn good product. The Painless kits, in my opinion, are a little more for custom applications.
