Doing Bags, have a few ?'s
This winter I am going to do bags. I have a 5.5" drop right now up front. If I just put in bags I will only sit around 1" lower if the bump stop is completely removed right? (3" spring, 2.5" spindles). Does anybody have any pics with bags, spindles and 2" a-arms I could look at. I would like to lay the air dam on the ground and that is around 3" from the ground. I will also be getting rid of my 3" notch in favor of a larger one. Right now I have leaf rear, but will be swapping the coil setup out of a parts truck to make things easier and cheaper. Also doing F/B/S/S how much am I looking for a descent kit? I don't need anything insanely quick, just enough to play every once in a while. And what are some common problems I should look at and what tricks work to get rid of them. I am trying to go the cheaper route, $1000ish is all I have to spend on it. Insane68 sells this stuff right? If you read this send me a price so I can start figuring stuff.

I'm lookin to bag my ride this winter also, Isn't there a bolt in 4 or 3 link rear airide set-up for our trucks? What'dya think, 18's layin frame.

I wouldn't buy a kit, I would go ahead and buy all your components seperatly, that way you can get the parts you want and possibly for a lot cheaper. I did a F/B system and installed it myself for a little over $500. However this is without drop spindles and a notch which will come later It sits plenty low for now, as I dont plan on dragging the frame/body al over town....yet

Slammed67 you should run a higher pressure switch- I run in all the trucks that I do a min. of 145psi but with my pressure switches they come on after a 20psi drop so you should never get your system to 115psi unless you are just playing and playing and playing with the switches.
Slammed67 also said it on the dot. You wont be satified with buying the slow stuff or small tanks. All the cars I have done I told my customers they should run more then 6 gallons of air they all said no. Well within a month they all want more air tanks, and bigger valves. I recommend 9-12 gallons of air if you have the room and plan on playing, but if you dont plan on playing then 6-7 gallons is enough. By the sound of it you will want probably 2 -5 gallons tanks, 8 valves, and 2 compressors. I can make you up a pipmp ass systme for fairly cheap- PM me for more info! |

I know a guy here in town with a 9 gallon tank, but its only 2 port and he also has a compressor. I can't remember off the top of my head which one it is. Its a BloJax 3/4 hp 100% duty though for $150. Is that a deal?

you will need a pretty good size step notch to lay it down, front is easy bags and spindles.

I just noticed those were 221's. I ALMOST got those for mine. Mine is in the process of getting bagged right now. Its slow goin with a broken arm though.

The tires are 245/35's in front and 275/30's in the rear. Bridgestone Pole Position S-03's. I got everything for $1 over cost thats why I got them. Wheels and tires together for $1600. But I just smacked a big pot hole the other day so I have to get 2 more wheels.

that's exactly why I am not gonna run a rubberband tire. I've got 305/50/20 for the back. I think that I might do a 275/55/20 up front. That's about the same size sidewall.

Just following along here because this is something I might be trying in the future. I lie the idea of adjustable ride height but I don't know about cutting my frame up/putting in a 9" rear or any of the other issues associated with going that low. Can you still bag a truck and not cut the floor or alter the wheel tubs? Is a c'notch enough by itself? I know very little about air ride so forgive me if my questions seem amateur. The front air is an easy install, right? The rear is more difficult...requires welding. What is recommended for the rear? Thanks!

You dont HAVE to notch at all.....you will be able to go lower if you do though. The front is easy to do also. Cups and bags will work for you in the front.
Stock floor body drop is just as easy as doing air suspension on these trucks if you are interested in being THAT low. |
