Locker up front

I want to know what people think of putting a detroit locker in the front end of a 4x4. Has anyone out there tried it. Obviously you would never put the truck in 4WD except when off road? Nasty steering characteristics or just good fun? It's a Dana 44, I've got a LS in there now but I'm looking for more traction for mud slingin, rock climbing and the like.

I say do it. I've got one in the front 60 on my dually, and in the front 44 in my CJ5. Sure it's tough to turn, but who cares?? no air-locker lines to snag and tear off, or seals to blow thus rendering your air-locker useless. Just install the Detroit and forget about it forever!!
