stereo install in my K5

I finally got most of the stereo installed in my 77 K5, still have to pull the radio and dash out out to do some more wiring on the alarm/door poppers, and repaint the dash, install the back seat but I thought I would share some pictures.

Re: stereo install in my K5

Just guessing here, but it looks like the speaker's magnet would have hit the inner metal panel, so he had to cut it out to make the speaker sit flush with fabric panel. The inner box is there to seal off the enclosure.

Re: stereo install in my K5

ohhhh, ok...i see it different now. thanks. the inside of the little box is the actual quarter panel. interesting.

i'm going to take some measurements and see if a shallow mount 10" Pioneer would fit for my needs. i don't need a huge thumpin system, just some nice loud jazz, blues and Black Sabbath. i'm going to put some JBL 6.5 components in Q Logic kick panels and maybe something else in the back for some fill in sound, maybe coax 6.5's also.

Re: stereo install in my K5

i really think this should be what i need......can anyone here tell me how this setup actually works, like a personal impression/experience.....like how many amps can you send through that without the cap vibrating or window/gate rattling? how do you think two 8" shallow mount Pioneers would sound in that same side for jazz, blues and old hard rock? they only mount in 2 1/2" and can be in a box or free air they say........this is all pretty new to me and i think this is my mid life crisis thing breaking out been a long time since i had real music.

i'd love to hear your truck Cochino.....

Im not a big fan of the pioneersubs but the jl sound pretty good if you dont mind spending more money.

Ive ripped all ofthe interior out to recover everything and add sound deadenerto all the panels. The kick panels look much better now with carpet covering them.
