For You C/30 Flatbed Lovers

I passed this truck yesterday on my way to an antique truck show. I made it a point to stop on my way home to look it over. There was a C/10 there with a for sale sign and I wasn't sure about the C/30,just wanted to look. It turns out I know the guy and he was there working on his '67 Custom Panel, which is a bit rare in itself. He always tells me where his place is and to stop on by. I never could remember where he said. Found it! This truck is a '72 Custom Deluxe/30 350,automatic,a/c,factory bed,and it's for sale! I wish I could buy this thing. He might trade for my tow truck, but I don't know if I should. Those are chrome Budds on there, just like on my wrecker. This is one fine C/30:

Re: For You C/30 Flatbed Lovers

This is a stand-out factory truck. I don't care who you are. It ain't no Cheyenne Super, but you don't see many that aren't base trucks, especially around here. This is a "Custome Deluxe"
This previous owner is a true truck guy and his pride in it shows through. You never saw many trucks with chrome Budds in the east. I ran them and never saw anyone else. They were all over California and Arizona when I lived there. You can't find them anywhere since Alcoas and simulators came out for 1 tons 20 or more years ago.

Re: For You C/30 Flatbed Lovers

Too much. I wish I could have ought it from the original owner. This guy is flipping it for $4,000. I could do alright trading him. He was interested in some of mine and suggested that. I'll let it marinade. It'll prolly sell, but if not I'll hit him up with an offer later on.

I can't stand looking at it cuz I'd just love to make it mine and just drive as is. I even have a No-Spin on the shelf for it (and bumper gaurds, tilt, and Highlander interior)

I didn't know the custom 30's were rare. Guess my wrecker is then?

If you go back, I could use one of those custom/30 fender emblems if nice.

Re: For You C/30 Flatbed Lovers

This one's a Custom Deluxe. But,that's the same as a 69/70 Custom. So,yours is a Custom? So it has the stainless around the windows, fancy dash knobs & pedals, vinyl door panels & scrolled vinyl/fabric seat, etc? I think you find upgraded C/30 DRWs in tow trucks more than anything else, except motor homes. It's somewhat rare, but what's most unusual for me is everything it has all in one: Upgraded trim level,two-tone paint in Tangiers Orange & White, automatic transmission,A/C,and factory flatbed. It's all GM like a pickup, rather than a body from an upfitter like most cab & chassis. It's a traditional body style from day one and still offered with these trucks. Just another thing no longer practiced and still available in these trucks. They are still connected to the roots yet modern enough for daily use 40 years later

There I go again.......I bet I'm the only one on the board with saran wrap covering the key board so the drool doesn't mess up the keys!
Up here, that's a good price, especially with all the options.
Looks like the 8'6" bed since it's the 133"wb. How many miles on the clock?
Jump on it Tim! You can always rationalize it later!
My wife is glad we don't live closer! That almost makes me want to sell mine and start over...........

Re: For You C/30 Flatbed Lovers

I don't think the price is all that bad either. More a matter of I just can't do it right now. If it were spring it would be different. Right now I'm looking to store some nuts for winter. I didn't check the mileage. The seat still has original vinyl, only the cloth has been replaced. That cloth can dry rot from age before wear. I'm glad to see the owners of the finer few flatbeds have all chimed in and gave it the seal of approval. Like I had any doubts before...Jeez,THANKS!!! Now I'm a terd for not buying it

Re: For You C/30 Flatbed Lovers

You know, now that you mention it,I believe the C/30s all had plain square pattern pedal pads even with upgraded trim packages. At least that's something I had noticed in the past. I had a '70 157" CST/30 that was and I have a '70 Custom/30 cab that way.

Re: For You C/30 Flatbed Lovers

Custom Deluxe trucks did not have metal trim on the pedals. That started with the CST and Cheyenne options. Now, Im not sure what the CST or Cheyenne/30 trucks really had. My Cheyenne/30 Dually does not have pedal trim
