Would the powers that be there in your country be agreeable with running a Heim (spherical rod end) aircraft style rod end on that end of the drag link?

I think that a proper size heim end would fit in quite a bit closer to the pitman arm and give you the needed clearance. They get used in hotrods and race cars all the time.

You would probably have sources there for the rod ends.
