Base coat/ clearcoat or acryllic urethane

I'm going to be spraying my blazer in a couple weeks and decided to go with Hugger Orange. I've heard from a lot of people that the new orange is much more "red" which i would absolutely hate. I saw a vid on youtube where a guy used summit racing acryllic urethane. The color was spot on, but it's not the bc/cc I was planning on doing.
what do you all think the best method is for to attempt? can I buy the GM hugger orange and be pretty confident that it will come out light enough? It's a lot more expensive than the summit racing paint. What's the difference?

Why not just choose what orange you would like?
Go to a local jobber, take a look at their color chips. Choose an orange, and have them make it by the code that you picked. This way you get the 'exact' color that you want. TONS of oranges to choose from!

Plus you can choose to get it in a bc/cc. You can buy cheaper paint or the more expensive paint.

X2 u really can't go just by the name of a color. Because that one name could have 7 differnt variations to it or shades of that color. A coded out of a chip deck is the.only way to go. So.u can get ur.exact color u want.

Choose the paint you want to and is in your budget. You can always clearcoat over it if you want/need more protection or shine. I have not used the summit paint but I am almost certain if you read closer that they will say that some of their metallic colors will need clearcoat over them. I know that is what eastwood says in their ads. I would also take into consideration if you are going to be sanding and buffing. If not then single stage paint would be fine but if you are then you may want to clear over it to give yourself more material to work with and help to prevent and re-paints.

Re: Base coat/ clearcoat or acryllic urethane

I think what you are looking for is 1969 gm passenger car code 72 that is the real 69 camaro hugger orange . Whether it is mixed in urethane or BC/CC it will be the same .The newer code 72 is called victory red and yes it is a red not orange . I painted cars for a long time , just because the code is the same doesn't necessarily mean they are the same color . Just the year can change it or whether it is passenger or a truck color. Forgot to mention 1969 hugger orange is my favorite color so I know...lol
