Comfort Grip Steering Wheel score

Bought this Chevy "Comfort Grip" wheel this off a guy right down the street from me today for $20. He had it for sale on Craigslist. Problem is the rubber grip is funky dirty. Going to try & clean it up tomorrow. I already have one on my 70, so this will be neat to hang up on the garage wall.....

Re: Comfort Grip Steering Wheel score

I'm assuming ''funky dirty'' means sticky, still a sweet score for $20. Congrats.

Re: Comfort Grip Steering Wheel score

you can always get one of those leather covers... pretty much have to get them on E-bay anymore, and make sure it isn't for a late model... I have one like that, way too much material do cover a thin rim.
Any way you slice it, sweet deal.

Re: Comfort Grip Steering Wheel score

My other one was a little sticky when I bought it many years ago. But I cannot remember how I cleaned it. This one is super sticky. I'll try some Gastrol Super Clean first.

Longhorn, I didn't know they had small covers for these. The only covers I have ever seen was the ones that were for the fatter rim.......thanks....

Re: Comfort Grip Steering Wheel score

Doesn`t Lestoil or pinesol get it?Or,some other ammonia ytpe cleaner? Then, wash of that cleaner with a milder one.Nice wheel.I had to sell mine and regret it.

OOPS!!! I posted this off alink in the going pink thread:
About the going pink.I feel your pain, about tight money.Other than that it doesn`t make you any less of a full member. There should be no different view on those who are in pink than in blue...total equals in my mind. Those who can are certainly appreciated and we thank you. But,this is a free site,as in no cost.when you were blue and took advantage of selling rights, the parts you offered were always reasonable. And,I heard this from other members, not just my opinion.
Hang in there, man.I`ll buy ya a beer (or two) sometime soon,I hope.

Thanks Tim. I meant to get to Carlisle last week to see you, but thought that I'd better stay away from anywhere that my wallet likes.

Re: Comfort Grip Steering Wheel score

Invest in some Mr. Clean Erasers from the local store. They will come in handy when cleaning sticky steering wheels. I used them on a couple of comfort grip wheels. Trevor

The 67 Camaro steering wheel hub will bolt directly on your 72 truck column.
Do you have the horn contact and horn cap also?

Re: Comfort Grip Steering Wheel score

67-68 hub matches the diameter of the truck steering column.
The 69-up hubs are slightly larger.

I have the 67 camaro hub. He gave that to me with the wheel. The wheel I have is the black rubber, which is actually the one I wanted.

I need to buy the installation kit, horn contact, and horn button. What place would u suggest. I've heard classic industries so far...
