Just for future reference I'm going to put down my experience with bleeding the rear discs using the 80's caddilac style caliper with e brake built in, I could not bleed the rear for the life of me and well today I finally decided it was time to take the caliper off and tilt it so the bleeder was TDC of the piston and bleed the brakes the way (to be sure without a doubt no air is trapped in the piston) and sure enough it still fought hard but I got em bled. So if your having problems give this a try. Here are some words incase this gets searched: rear disc brakes , brake bleeding problems, rear discs won't bleed, help bleeding brakes, 80's rear disc calipers , brake bleeding

Well porterbuilt sebt out a package for me today, so as soon as I can figure how to track my package I'll know when it's supposed to come in. So that's the good news... But there has to be bad right? Of course.. Turns out the shop hasn't even began to do anything with my 700r. So I'm waiting on a call (whenever they do call) to go pick it up.. So I'm hoping it's going to be within a reasonable amount if time and that why actually get ahold of me this time they call. And CPP sent me an email telling me some of the parts that consist of there collapsable steering shaft are on back order so I assume it's going to be about a week and a half before I should start expecting it since tomorrow is also a holiday. So for now the truck is still just up in the air in the garage.. Been cleaning the frame more and more, since I have nothing else to do on the truck... Also might be in the process of buying a 67 camaro... (I know I know.. I have to many projects as it is..but I've gotta get this one and secure it so I at least have the car when the time comes)

You ain't akiddin! I'm pretty excited to feel what my brakes feel like now that the rear will actually be doing some braking! Not to mention if I get the new steering shaft in time, should take a lot of play out of the steering wheel. But I guess in a way it's nice since I have the trans out I can clean up the frame and underneithofthe cab after the th350 and when my 327 just decided to Leak all over the can and frame. Ah yes the camaro.. Still waiting for the 67 to get running so I can go down and see if he's interested in selling the car, my friend told me about his cousin who bought the car just because of the price. But he knows from my friend how interested and how much I love the 67' camaros that he wants to talk with me before he decides if he'll sell it to me. I'm guessing it's one of those things where he just wants to know the car will go to a good home. But I guess it's a 50/50 shot the good news is he's got a newborn and he probably could use the money he spent on the car back. But that's also the bad news since he might decide to keep the car for his kid.

I'm trying to be on the ball with the shop but still seem nice and not annoying... If that's even possible haha so hopefully I doing that well. I can't wait to see the car, I'm going to take pictures of everything I can on and of that car

Turning 19 feels different, things seriously change over night. Yesterday I got a call from the Chevy dealership where my family bought the 2014 and turns out they wanted an interview, so drove the 67 up there (loving the overdrive, huge difference in MPG) and got the job. So I'll be a service guy in the shop. They say I'll get a very nice discount on any Buick, caddilac, gmc, of Chevy they sell, as well as a nice discount on GM parts, so I thought that was cool. Never though my frist job would be at a Chevy dealership so that's cool. But I'm sad to announce that I'm going to have to sell the 67 to get some money for a beater truck to DD.

Plus if you sell it now without a paint job you will take a bath on it because guys wont care that it has all kinds of upgrades, it if doesn't have nice paint they won't pay what it's worth. Congrats on the new job, and that' great the truck is getting good mileage now. The best I ever got my 40 Ford with the 377 stroker TH400 and 2.73 gears was 15. Hard to go far like it was before at about 8.

Received my Porterbuilt crossmember in today. Beautiful crossmember, came with nice hard ware, even a PB fab sticker not really right to put the sticker on the truck when I only have a single part on the truck but, pretty cool sticker. I'll post pictures of the crossmember when I get it painted and installed

Well I put the 383 in on Friday. Finally drove it today, and had to shut her down since she was getting hot... About a year ago I bought a new thermostat for the 327 and I put it in... It was bad straight out if the box, then I changed the intake to the performer... It was bad right out if the box, I had to cover half the radiator in order to get it to heat up, so now I bought a new thermostat for the 383... Bad right out of the box! Wouldn't open! All of these were Murray brand. I'm in disbelief at how within a year and months apart I happen to come across a bad thermostat every single time... I'm starting to think it's not a coincedence. Anyways I changed it out and it should be good now.

Rick, I've found with parts store thermostats you have to throw some water in a pot on the stove and with a liquid thermometer bring the water to the open-start temp and the full-open temp to test the thermostat by hanging it off a wire and immersing it. I just drop coin on OE or other highly recommended (usually highly priced too) units. Murry and Stanton are about a 4 in 5 fail. Same goes for the all essential cooling system pressure regulator valve.

Hey Rick, I've been up at the cabin for the last 10 days so I've been off the grid. I've had so many bad thermostats the last few years I test them like Jeremy described before I install it

I know POL has tubular ones and cpp also makes tubular mounts but just was wanting to know all of the ones out there, to have a variety to choose from.

I wouldn't buy the CPP tubular engine stands they cause clearance issues with all exhaust manifolds and 99% of all headers.
If you buy from CPP get their Sheet metal engine stands they were designed to clear exhaust manifolds and headers. |

Got my PB crossmember painted today, was going to install it but then I got under the truck and was looking at my working space, I didn't have any good grinder wheels or cut off wheels, and a friend of mine is borrowing my drill bits... So I said screw that, and let the truck back down. Going to take my air chisel to my friends house and use his air compressor as I still don't have one yet and just do it that way. Soo much faster, not to mention easier on the hands and ears
