3/4 ton hub cap question
I sold the tires, wheels and caps off of my K20 since I was going to put it away for who knows how long. But now I'm considering selling it. So I have some decent tires and stock size wheels wheels on it (instead of a set of crappy rollers). Now Im trying to come up with a set of stock style caps ... very hard to come by for 3/4 ton 4x4's for a decent price.
I guy told me he has a set of caps off of a 79 3/4 ton 4x4 that I can have for a decent price. Does anyone know if these will fit? I was thinking the front hub on the later models are much smaller, which I could take care of by opening up the hole some. But are the caps as deep on the 79's? I seem to recall having a set of later model caps on my 68 K20 and the previous owner had bowed the centers out on the rears to make em fit ... I could be wrong though, that was quite awhile back. I did have this over in the 4x4 area and got zero responses. I deleted it over there and am posting here, so this is not a double post for the ones that did see it over there. Mark

Re: 3/4 ton hub cap question
I have a set of later ones I am planning on using, I will take measurements and see how close it is going to be.
EDIT I went and tapped a rear hubcap onto my 16 x 6" steelie and there is 3 5/8" or so from where the wheel will contact the hub to the back of the hubcap. My air compressor is down or I'd buzz it off and measure how long the hub on my HO52 is.

Re: 3/4 ton hub cap question
If your selling it, I would just spray the rear axle hubs black, Mask off the chrome front lock outs and paint the front ones black too. then with the white wheels will look a little cleaner. The 79 caps just dont look right on these trucks

Re: 3/4 ton hub cap question
The 76-91 caps will fit,as long as you open up the front hub holes. I think they look sharp. Years ago it was actually harder to find the right caps with no internet and basically not a lot of interest in original parts on a 3/4t,except for an enlightened few . That.and an over abundance of the later caps from guys taking them off on day-one to run Outlaws or other alloy wheels in the '80s.
Here's one of my work trucks with them in the '80s:
