pro comp heads
I was wondering if anyone on this forum is using procomp bbc heads and if so are you having problems with them

Lots of people have problems with them. I've heard they are getting a little better as far as the QC goes but if it were me I would save the little extra money and buy a quality set of heads.
If you do happen to buy them or have gotten them already do yourself a favor and take them to a reputable shop and have them looked at, and DO NOT use the parts that come directly from Pro Comp. Just my .02

Patriot has a pretty good inexpensive head. I had a friend that ran them and they worked great for him.

I've researched this quite a bit, I've looked into all big block heads available that would work good on a sub-500ci motor, Pro-comp uses china castings and overseas components, I have seen motors that they work great on, but from all the research i've pulled up on them, quality control is hardly comparable to any of the other companies.
I've checked into Patriot quite a bit as well, and they also use overseas castings, but are machined and assembled here in the U.S. I believe their shop is in Alabama. I would choose these over pro-comp if you're looking for a super low budget head for the simple fact that they are a U.S. based company, and I have read their support and customer service is fairly good. But if you can save a few more dollars and hold out a few weeks/months longer... go with some of the proven names: Brodix, Dart, AFR, Profiler... the list goes on. Again, this is one person's opinion, and i'm just telling you based on the experience of others I have read, this in no way means you will have bad luck with any of the heads. But I believe almost anyone will tell you that you get what you pay for. As for myself, I am trying to go as low dollar as possible because i'm on a fixed income, and my "Toy" budget is fairly low. So I think i'm going to go with a set of Patriot's. the decision may change... but that looks like my best choice at the moment. Here's a good article in Super Chevy that used patriot heads, 496 and a nice roller cam is pretty easy 600 HP. 496 patriot build in Super chevy Jan 09
