How to get the dash out

I need some advice on how to remove the dash from my 71 jimmy. Ive been told that it is spotwelded and you have to remove the windshield. How do I remove the windshield and what do I use to drill out the spot welds?

Thanks,
Cole

Re: How to get the dash out

Never done it myself, but you need to remove the trim around the windshield if you have it, and then cut out the seal of the windshield. I think you can run some wire all around the windshield to get it all separated, but be careful not to break it.

For the spot welds, you can use a drill bit that's about the same size as the spot weld while trying to be careful not to go through both piecese or buy a spot weld remover bit.

PS, welcome to the forum...got pics of what you're working on? And why are you looking to remove the whole dash?

Re: How to get the dash out

I started a build thread so you can see. I want to get the dash out so I can send it to get sandblasted and painted. My mom manages a sandblasting company so I can get some stuff done for free.
