Re: Matshark`s 55 2nd project

During the winter I will try to finish the engine so that
it will look the way it performs. I will have to get a wiring
harness for my LT1 and hope tho have it in the car by spring.
The transmission arrived last week so my drivetrain is almost complete.

Do you have any suggestions where to buy a harness ( no EGR, no VATs,
1997 LT1 with 4L60E) ??

Re: Matshark`s 55 2nd project

Momentarily i am looking for a special kind of seats.
Because I want a modern look in the interior and good
seats, I decided to go with one individual sports seat for
me and a small "sport seat style" bench which is looking the same
way as the drivers seat.
This will need some fabrication onthe seats.
They shall look like this: ( with a dark blue instead of the read )

What do you think ?

Everything is looking really nice Matshark! I was wondering, what the classic truck scene like in Germany? Is there a big intrest in Classic American cars & trucks over there?

Re: Matshark`s 55 2nd project

After a long time, here some updated pictures of my project.
My work didn`t give to much time work on it.

Last weekend we test fitted engine and trans, so that all the brackets
for fuel, brakelines and so on can be installed.

The good thing was to fins out, that the parts of the exhast system I have will fit and tht there will be no clearance problems with the steering.

Re: Matshark`s 55 2nd project

Nice work, the engine looks great along with the rest of the truck. Are you able to find parts in Germany? My father lives in Frankfurt and is thinking about building a truck as well but he says it's really tough to find anything. Keep up the good work

Re: Matshark`s 55 2nd project

I get most of my parts from the states.
To find parts here is hard, because you almost
do not find those trucks here in Germany.
The engine was dissassembled for cleaning and
making it look good, but we needed the block and
heads to check for clearance issues. Now it can be
taken apart again.

Re: Matshark`s 55 2nd project

The engine is a callaway competition super natural and came out of a camaro.
It got the complete tuning treatment from callaway including the headers, so I am happy, that I can use them.

Re: Matshark`s 55 2nd project

I didn`t post for quite a while, but not beacause the project is dead, but because it didn`t work out to build a truck in a garage too far away from my house.

Therefore I decided two years ago to build another garage on my property.
For those who are not familiar with, how complicated this is in germany ( I think we invented administration, forms, and all this other stuff we all hate ), I can tell you, that it took more than half a year to get the permission to build it.
After that my son and I started to build it by ourselves.

If you are interested I can post a few pictures of my new "mens living room".

Re: Matshark`s 55 2nd project

Here is what my son Mike, my wife and I did the last year to give
my project a home closer to my house. I have now a seperate
garage where I can work at my truck and hopefully speed things a little bit up.

Because you always tell that you love pics, here are some, but keep in mind, in Germany everything is smaller and tighter, so is my garage ...

Re: Matshark`s 55 2nd project

A few weeks ago I started making a frame for a sports seat bench.
This is what I came up with.

Very cool. It must feel good to be able to have a place just to work on your truck.

Yes it makes things so much easier. You can just stop and continue the other day without getting everything out of the way.

Yesterday I started working on the frame:

We don`t have real earthquakes but that is the normal way we build houses and garages. I wish I would have had the chance to make it bigger but I didn`t get the permission ( not from my wife, but from the administration ) to make it bigger. But it wouldn`t have been much bigger, because there are 3 feet to the street and the backside leans against the pool.

I thought having a "street" in my garage an a motivating horizon would be a good idea.

I added small bumbstops just in case..

I have to move the tube for the shock attachment a little bit further back, the
coilovers are slightly out of angle.
