Any good tips on how to seal a windshield gasket? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I had a new windshield installed and it leaked on both sides. Took it back and they put more sealer in it. Still leaks! (not as bad) I think they are using the sealer sparingly by the looks of things.

Rather than go through this ordeal again, I thought I'd just seal the dang thing myself. (that's how things usually end up getting done right!)

Looking for the best way to get sealer in both front and back side of the gasket? Inject it in somehow? Use some kind of a tool to pry the gasket away? Other ideas?

I wish someone would come up with a better setup than what we are getting. I'm trying to build a show truck (at least in my eyes) and this is killing my project. Imagine walking up to what you think is a beautiful piece of work only to look inside and see a wrinked up POS gasket. If mine doesn't get straightened out soon I'm going blow a gasket!

Bob,

From my experience most of the leaks are in the top corners of the seal where the seal meets the 90 degree corner. I would suggest sealing the corner and about 4" down on each side I like the black ureathane like the roofing guys use.

bob, we have windshield urethane here and im told klines has a primer solution to swab on the pinchweld to help the urethane seal. or you could contact kurtz brothers glass in tamaqua they will come to you and fix it and are very good and very reasonably priced. 570-225-6209
