Broke dipstick into block..

Well installing my header i broke my dipstick inside the block..

Does anybody have any advice? I tried to get it out from the bottom of the oil pan but it ended up breaking there too... So now its literally all in the block.

How do i get this thing out!

I had a dipstick break off on a 283 in my 66 Chevelle. Went to the salvage yard, got another one and went on down the road. Never had a problem.

droping the pan is about the only way to get it out. luckily since its metal and heavier than the oil, itll sink to the bottom on the pan and not cause issues.

PB Blaster and an EZ out. Done a couple that way.

I have always got a 3/8 tapered bolt (like a fender bolt) with a big washer and used a nut that the inside diameter is large enough for the piece to pull through and just put the nut over the hole and screwed the bolt in and has pulled it out every single time

ah i was confused. i though he ment the dipstick broke and was in the pan. now i see its the tube thats broke in the block. the bolt idea is probably the best idea. just shoot with with some pentrating lube to loosen it up first.

Damn, this is going to be fun. I'll give that bolt idea a try. I thought our fender bolts were 1/2 inch though?

I mean 3/8 diameter like the ones in the top or bottom at the cab , always had some in my toolbox and they always worked
